I saw a 18" 1300 with mag extension at a local pawn shop for $150. It is in pretty good shape but I am not sure I need it or how it stacks up against the Moss 500 and Rem 870 that I am more familiar with.

So, for about $150, should I jump on it or is it only a so-so buy. I also saw some good deals on Moss 500s and Rem 870s. I have owned those and I was thinking about trying something new.

I owned one for several years - Just sold it because I had no place to shoot it, and an 18 inch barrel with a folding stock wasn't conducive to skeet. But, I really liked the shotgun a lot.

Go buy it :)

Better than the Mossberg, not as good as the 870 (JMHO). At $150 in good shape it's a deal- buy it, definitely.

Buy it. Most all pumps from well known makers (Rem, Moss, Win, Ithaca, Browning, etc) are all reliable as you can get.

My grandfather has a 1300 pump in 20ga that has seen thousands of rounds without problem.

There's only one problem with buying a Winchester now that they're out of business, replacement parts are going to become harder to find. The Winchester 1300 is a very easy gun to work on but supplies are eventually going to dry up. I would recommend the Remington 870. You can also find screaming deals on those, I got mine for $170 a couple of years ago.

As long as FN is making some version of the FN Police/Tactical pumpgun, replacement parts aren't likely to be a problem for the 1300. They're the same design. I wouldn't pass on the deal over concern re. spare parts.

Does it have mag extension or an extended mag? Yes, there is a difference. ;)

$150 is a great deal. Buy it. If you don't want it, could you give me the address of the pawn shop so I could have them ship it to me? I could use another one at that price. :)

And yes, I'm serious about that. Let me know if you don't want it. But if I were you, I'd pick it up today.

I'm a Mossberg guy, but yeah $150 for the Winny "Defender" is a good deal. And with a bit of care, it will outlast your great-grandkids.

Snap it up right now. Or better yet, buy it yesterday....:D :D :D :D :p

I'd change the order of precedence to Mossberg, Remington, Winchester, but the 1300 is a terrific little gun, lightweight, good capacity...I'd snap one up for $150 if I could find one in good shape.

Good luck!

I have six 1300s of one type or another. Part of me likes the mini-shell thing, part of me likes the arrangements of controls, and a big part of me just likes not using an 870 or 500.
