Bought a TacStar 2 shot extension for my Winchester 1300. Tried it out, and it seems that the threads on the end of the magazine are 1/16" too long for the barrel ring and the fat part of the extension (knurled grip area) to meet. As a result, with the extension screwed down all the way as far as I can get it, the barrel is free to move about 1/16" forward and back.

Anybody ever encounter this, and if so, is there a solution short of shaving a little off the threads on the end of the magazine?

A washer spacer?

Seriously I would do about anything before I cut any threads off the magazine tube.
That is one mod you can't reverse if it goes south on you.

If you decide to ignore the "return-it" advice, just remember the general rule of gunsmithing:

Modify the cheapest/easiest part to replace. That leaves out the magazine tube in this instance.

Returning it really isn't an option at this point. I got it from a store that went out of business shortly thereafter. Only just now (a couple weeks after I bought it) got around to trying it out.

Don't modify the shotgun. I think adding a spacer of some sort is the best advise, short of throwing the Tac Star extension away, and buying a higher quality part like a Choate.
