received a Winchester 1400 16g shotgun from family member. disassembled the trigger group assembly for deep cleaning and after reassembling noticed I had an extra part, the carrier support spring. does anyone have a detailed diagram i could have access to?

also i'm not seeing an action release button (carrier release) on the shotgun. if i can get the trigger group reassembled will the shotgun function without the carrier release?

thanks for any assistance.

I've never disassembled mine that far down. As for the carrier release, early models like mine didn't have one in the form of a button or lever. You simply pushed in on the magazine follower with your thumb or another shell and the bolt will release.

thanks for the link. unfortunately i can't see the carrier support spring on the diagram. i've found it on the attached file (part number 17) but can't figure how to put it back. already spoken to gunsmith and he can't get to it until after first of year. would like to use this gun before then.
