:) I am a Ruger Kinda Guy, rifle wise. I love No.1's, but I have a Browning 1885 in .22 Hornet. A great shooter. Anyway I was at a gunshop in Roanoke and they had a new Winchester Catalog for 2006. They are offering the 1885 in several additional calibres this coming year. Does anyone have any and how do they shoot? I load all of my own rounds, and sometimes you really have to work to get an accurate(m.o.a.)load in a No.1, so I am not adverse to that.

I have one. Here's an older picture of it: ;)

That's my granddad holding it in 1899. It's 113 years old and still tears a ragged hole. Chambered in .22 WCF, I make 'em out of .22 hornet brass. The rifle is an 1892 manufacture, plain sporting, full octagon, #1 barrel. A real honey of a family piece.

ah, the days before "finger off the trigger." can't find fault, just have to appreciate the history. cool picture :)

Yeah, the trigger discipline makes one cringe, doesn't it? The history IS the cool part. Thanks.

The Winchester 1885's will be made by the same Japanese company (Miroku)that made your .22 Hornet, so if you like it (I love mine), you should like the Winchesters. They probably won't be finished quite as well as a Browning, but mechanically will be the same.
