Winchester 70 Stock Question?????

Does anybody know the difference in the Express Walnut and Sporter Walnut stocks that are made for the model 70 Winchesters? Is it the type of wood or does it have to do with the design of the stocks? Anybody got any pictures to help me understand?

I am looking for a backup stock for my Winchester that accepts the 2 piece floorplate and triggerguard.

Winchester has an archive section of their website with previous versions of Model 70s, and there are many.

Note the difference in lugs and bedding, from the Sporter models.

CDNN has some stocks listed, but I am having trouble finding out info about them. The guy I talked to didn't help a whole lot........

The CDNN stocks should be from the guns in the Winchester archive area.

Note that the Express stocks, at least most of them, say "NO FRONT STUD" which would mean they're for the Safari Express style guns with a stud on the barrel.

1968-69 Model 70 .243 with 2 piece bottom. My old stock didn't fit me due to the cheek piece. I was wanting a featherweight stock, so I bought one for 1 piece metal and took away where I needed to and added where I needed to. It wasn't until I was about finished that I noticed a small crack in the stock. To late to sent it back for another. I did some minor stock repair on the crack hoping that will take care of it and I won't have to do a major repair somewhere down the road. Turned out decent, so I sold my other stock, which didn't fit me anyway.

I would like to find a spare stock without a cheek piece that I don't have to modify to put up just in case I would ever need it.
