Real fast shooting!

And the softest kicking Model 71 I ever saw in my life!!!

Still very neat though.

Wonder where the aired that movie?

Trade shows?
Movie theater teasers?

I don't recall ever seeing anything like that until TV came along.

Like the old guy littering after dumping the shells in his pocket and the Savoy cigarette spot, ahh the good old days.

jmorris,

That caught my attention too. Fill your pockets with shells then simply discard the box on the ground and walk off.

I'd sure like to get my hands on a 1940's M-71 deluxe in good shape though.

Most of the hunting scenes were staged, but still cool none the less. Thanks for posting.

They were all totally staged but I think that kind of adds to charm.

If there was more advertisement like this now, hunting might not be fading as a pastime and hobby.

Kinda strange to see some of the "dated" stuff, but taken in context, it works.

I'll hold out for a pre war deluxe carbine with factory peep. There isn't a better gun made for the swamps I hunt in.

H&H-I know. But even if I sold my soul to buy it I'd be afraid to take it out of the house, never mind hunting with it. Like most of us I have my tale of the one that got away. 20 years ago I saw one in the paper for $300. I call instantly and a woman answers. Me "I'm calling about that gun?" Woman "Oh my goodness I wish I had a hundred of those! I sold it but the phone never stops ringing!" :banghead:

My Dad sold his about 1960 for $100. Turned around and bought a used M88 with a case and several boxes of .308 for $100.

Just about broke my heart. I can remember sitting on the stairs and watching the guy pay for the M71. The smoothest lever action ever made.

The M 71 is on my will have one list. One of these days.

Anyone notice the border between the US and Canada, back then?
If they hadn't stopped to take pictures, it would easily have gone unnoticed.
Times have certainly changed.

That was great! And I am old enough that my grade school used to show us movies like this! (Parochial school) I also remember a movie we saw on the manufacture of double barrel shotguns and how they soldered the barrels together. Man, things sure have changed since the 50's... If a school showed something like this today they'd be sued to death and have to pay for therapy for all the kids for life.

I 'member one year when our priest had his deer hanging from a tree between the school and the church, and we all walked past on our way to daily mass. No one blinked but we were mostly all jealous...even the girls.

When I was in 9th or 10th grade I won a shotgun and rifle in a cheese and sausage sale at school. My Grandmother had to come to school and pick them up for me.

That was great! Ahhh it must have been great when you could simply drive north across the border without stopping. They said it was an example of what could happen with "mutual trust" between countries. They'd roll over in their graves if they knew the hoops you had to jump through now-a-days to drive into canada with guns for a hunting trip.

great video. thanks for posting. Makes me want to go hunting right now.

I've watched the film 3 times. Every time I swear that dock gets more and more underwater. Love the non PC way the narrator imitates the Indian. "Chief says heep good smoke!
I don't really envy those guys. I've been in that part of Canada and the black flies are beyond belief.

Good use of the dog though.

Did the moose meat get left behind for the ravens?

I'm guessing that they didn't skin quarter and load the meat in the boat to feed the ravens?

Interesting video. In a lot of places in the US at that time it was a big deal to see a deer.
