Hello All,

This is my firsts post and I hope you can help.

I recently recieved a Winchester model 12 serial #1457xxx It has a poly choke that I heard may decrease the value (?). The barrel is marked for
Super speed and super X 3 inch 12 gauge.

The gun is in very good condition. Some wear around the slide is noted and the wood is plain as well as the reciever. It has a winchester butt pad

My question is: Aproximate value, year of manufacture, and can anyone tell me if you can shoot 2 3/4 inch shells in it.

thanks, DEAN

$400, much more before the polychoke.

1954

Yes. Google or search for Heavy Duck. Ought to be a great smooth shooter.

Your gun was made in 1954, according to the list I have. You can find it on google. just type in winchester model 12 and click on the McHenry Sportsman Club link. Some Model 12's were factory made with a "Poly choke" style choke system. The barrel should be marked CYL. where it would ordinarily say Full or Mod if it is original. Seeing as how it is 3inch capable, my guess would be that the choke would have been added later, as every 3inch gun I've ever held was a fixed full choke. As for an add on lowering collector value, it does to to many collectors. The thing to remember is "ALL Model 12'S" are collector items. Just some collectors are more discerning than others. Congratulations on owning a piece of "AMERICAN" History.:)
And "YES" you can shoot 2 3/4 ammo
