I have a Winchester Model 12 16 gauge in good condition.
Serial Number47XXX. It alson has and ingraved coat of arms in the stock. Can anyone help me date and appraise this gun.
pics would help (especially of the coat of arms perhaps) also, i would never publish a full serial #. you might consider editing that part of your post.
you might check out gunbrokersdotcom and see what other model 12' are going for.
1914 by my book. I have a 1915 in 16 gage. Please be advised that the 16 gage of that time period is not the same 16 gage we have today. Your gun was originally chambered for 2 9/16" shells and may or may not be safe with modern 2 3/4" ammunition. Many of the old guns were modified by lengthening the chamber and relieving the ejection port. Mine is original and will stay that way. Have your Model 1912 checked out by a competent gunsmith.
Fine old gun!!!
