I'm looking to buy a Winchester .22. Doesn't have to be semi or bolt specifically. But I came across a model 67 and 121 both for $125 each. They both look to be in 85%+ condition given their age.

Just looking for opinions or input here on what people think is the better model/value? In my Wikki searching I still cannot find out the tube capacity for either of these models. Or are they single load only?

Only thing I've really found out is the the 121 sounds like its overbuilt for a .22 and probably should outlast a couple lifetimes.

Thanks for anyone's input in advance.

I have the 67 (which is single shot); made from 1934-1963.

The other gun is also a single shot, and is considered to be worth about half as much, although, mostly due to its age (1967-1973).

Ty Pale_Horse for that info.

Is the Model 67 an american made Winchester and the 121 made somewhere else? Seems I heard somewhere the later 70's production .22's were possibly made in Canada or something like that. But still stamped New Haven CT.

All of the 121's I have seen are marked "Made in U.S.A.".

Sears sold the same gun under a different model name. That may have been made elsewhere?

My understanding is that the 121 had a rather complicated bolt (for any type of bolt gun, much less a 22) and that it has wear issues.

Ok, well I think I'm gonna go with the 67 at this point. I stumbled upon another 67 for $100 in about the same condition.

Third generation on my 67a.

Grandfather, father, and myself.

That weird stripe in the buttstock is where it

Gets shortened for each up and coming generation.........

Still a tackdriver.

Good call with the 67. Don't shoot CCI Stingers in it though. The longer cases will cause the extractor to gradually chip away until it won't work anymore. Replacements are available should you run into that problem.

I learned the hard way.

my grandfather bought four of the win single shots, two 67,s and two 68,s and i have them. i shoot the 68,s better because of the peep sights tho. the only thing is their triggers are rough. but what do you want in a 5.00 rifle? it is hard to date them as there are no serial numbers, and you have to check the stocks, thigger guards and bolts to date them some what. they are still with in reach for the starting collector, as their are only 4 or 5 that bring big money. eastbank.
