It goes in the inner wall of the receiver and the hooked part of the spring is held in place by the carrier spring screw. That screw is a short flat head screw with a standard straight slot. You will see a rounded milled out recess with a screw hole in the middle. That's where it goes.
The non hooked end actuates the carrier.

Don't be too surprised if it doesn't feed reliably, the cartridge guides should not be removed.

Thank You for the reply. I took rifle back apart and with your description and a pic I was sent I managed to get it. It will be spring before I get to shoot it. Thanks again.

Got Lucky I guess
Yesterday picked up a box of ammo.
Tried out and it cycles great.
Loads smooth ejects great
Now to the range in the spring
Thanks for your reply

You did get lucky.
The guides are factory set & quite frequently if you monkey with 'em you affect feeding reliability.
I would recommend not removing them again.
