Hey guys. Know someone with a Model 94 .30-30 manufactured in 1899 in very good shape, and he was curious about the value of it. I don't have a blue book of gun values, so any opinions would be nice. My guess is that it is worth around $1000? Thanks.

I think your guess is a bit high unless it is a deluxe model or has some special features from the factory.

you would have to elaborate a little more on the gun, does it have fancy grade wood, presentation grade, etc etc etc. I bought one a few years back as a collector/shooter made in 1905 and gave 5 Franklins for it. Basically it would depend on the grade, condition etc of the gun. Check out some of the Winchester websites for more.

For a factory letter on the gun contact http://www.bbhc.org/firearms/records.cfm.

Is it a rifle or a carbine? If rifle, is it round barrel or octagon, or half round? what length barrel? crescent butt or shotgun butt? straight grip or pistol grip stock? Plain wood or have some nice figure? Full magazine or half? what percentage of original finish, 50% 75% 90%? Has it ever been drilled and tapped for a scope or receiver sight? original sights? Bore condition? has it ever been refinished? Is it the origianl barrel?

All these things will have some bearing on value and desirability.

Be advised that the info on the Savage site isn't 100% reliable. It says an 1894 I checked is an 1898 gun, but the museum (BBHC)says 1902.

Same for oldguns.
