The photo of the Defender model is messed up. The ring that attaches the barrel to the mag tub has been photoshopped out.

Even though I have no personal interest in them, it is nice to see the 1300 back. I know some people really liked them, and they also were a nice option in the Mossberg 500/ Remington 870 Express price bracket. I do notice that they are no longer leaving the bolts in the white. I wonder what finish they are using on them. I wonder if they will bring back some of the older models like the rifle sighted deer guns and compact youth versions (which were quite nice, IMO a cut above the Mossberg and Remington youths).

Indeed. It also seems to be lacking any form of sight (even a bead).

EDIT: Did anyone else notice that they don't refer to the gun as a Model 1300 in any of the material? It is all "Speed Pump". Maybe they are trying to get away from the number 13?

Oh, and it looks like both of the field versions come with overbored barrels and Invector Plus tubes. Looks like Winchester/Browning/FN is trying to standardize on those chokes.

Yeah, me, too. :D I LOVE the way the winchester fits. My son-in-law has a couple of 'em, really into the 1300s. I have a 1400 auto that is identical other than it pumps itself. I guess with the SX3, we'll not see a 1400 back, but they should offer it again IMHO. It was a fantastic and affordable auto, softest shooting 12 out there. On a pump, I prefer the ergos of the Mossberg, but would take a 1300 over an 870 because I like the out of the box fit. Of course, it's no big deal to fit the 870 as I did with my Mossberg.

Great gun and I'm glad it's back.

I'm guessing poor photochop and probably has rifle sights since there isn't even a rib on it, though I guess there wouldn't be on a SD shotgun. Might want a heat shield on it if you're a real tacticool kinda guy. Perhaps it comes with a bead and they didn't have a pic of it, so they photo chopped a slug barrel on it and removed the rifle sights?

But, why is this in the rifle forum??

"But, why is this in the rifle forum??"

Oh, I guess I'm just used to going into the rifle section. Not sure how to move a thread.

Rifle or shotgun post...I want one...with the highvis shights...my 870's are looking for a little sister.

That walnut field is gorgeous. My dad has one of the original 1300 Defender models (when the capacity was 7+1, not 5+1... I hope they fix that). Back on a Scout campout when the activity was shooting, i was at the shotgun patterning range next to the clay pigeon area. I had to empty the shotgun during their firing breaks because that's the only time I could go to the end of the range forty yards down to see what the shotgun had done (I wasn't really shooting at anything; just a waterbottle and some other crap I found to see what the shotgun would do to it). It lived up to the speed pump name. The people on the clay range thought someone was firing a machine gun with as fast as I was firing that thing. The other guys there thought it was the coolest thing ever (it was "tacticool"). It's a great shotgun.
