With colder weather approaching in the next couple of months I have been looking around at gloves to replace what I normally use. I'm looking for something thin enough to not affect my grip too much but warm enough that I don't end up with numb fingers. I have a pair of mechanics gloves that I use but they really were not made for cold weather. The mittins with the cut off fingers that I have are way too thick and have the obvious problem of the fingers being cut off. What do you guys use for shooting in winter? Anybody know how warm those nomex flight gloves are? They're comfortable but I just haven't been able to justify the expense of buying them.

I use the mittens that separate in the middle and fold back exposing your fingers. Got them from Cabelas. They work great in a deer blind, keeping your hands warm until you spot a deer. Then you fold them back so you can use your fingers on the rifle. Only takes a second or two. Not much good if you are moving and may have to snapshoot.

I forget the brand but I currently use gloves that are leather on the palms and the insides of the fingers but neoprene everywhere else.

Thin gloves are important if you are shooting pistols, not so important for combat oriented rifles designed for use with gloves.

Flight gloves are very nice too, but they tend to come apart at the seams after a while, at least the issue ones do. Aftermarket flight gloves may be higher quality.

Look at Hatch brand gloves, they are nice, and Southwest Motorsports, they make top of the line gloves.

Whatever you get, tight fitting quality gloves are easier to shoot in.

Another couple of options are:

Mechanix Cold weather gloves

Football cold weather reciever gloves (both Reebok and Nike make a pair I know of)

I actually found a couple at REI, the material feels like neoprene. Inspite of this, it's was plenty warm, and I was able to utilize all my fingers still. And if it gets too cold, you can just use it as a liner for another thicker glove.
