This round has been laying around for a while. Does it look safe to shoot? Also, I think it's boxer primed: is it OK to reload? :D

See!
I told you steel case Wolf would rust if you cleaned off the lacquer coating by tumbling it too long.

This is a joke thread.

Click on the picture and look at it closely!

Nobody could seriously consider shooting or reloading that thing.
I've seen Indian war dug-up's that are in better condition then that.

I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it. Problem being is I don't see it going bang as there is a good chance the powder has fallen out of the hole in the side of it. What the hell, stuff some powder of an unknown brand and give it a whirl!

Do you guys recon it's an FMJ or ballitisc tip? Might make a difference in the ballistics. That is if you could get it into the chamber.:)

Well, ya know, the bullet looks fine, and I think I could salvage the primer by scraping the hardened rust out of it, scraping the compound out of a new primer and carefully pressing it into this one. I didn't think to save the powder when I picked it up out of the dirt and it all started trickling out of the hole.:banghead:

I think you all might be right about the shell though. Once I got a closer look at it I decided it might be safer to not try to reuse it.:uhoh:

Sorry all; I found this thing this morning, was bored and thought I'd have some fun.:)

I once salvaged the bullets from a batch of Chinese 7.62x39 misfires that had been conveniently piled (and then snowed upon). I used a pipe cutter about 1/4 in. above the shoulder, dumped what little powder remained, then put the neck/shoulder/bullet combo in a vise so the bullet dangled facing downward. A few smacks of a mallet and punch and the bullets were freed from their lacquered and severely crimped necks. Gotta love free bullets.

You guys spend too much time sniffing gun powder me thinks your blood pressure is to low.

If you have a shotshell press, put neck/shoulder/bullet upside down in the depriming station. The fat depriming pin pushes the bullet right out and it collects where the spent primers collect. No damage to the base of the bullet.
