Has anybody with a PTR91 ever shot the Wolf "WPA" ammo through their rifle? How did it function/perform? I'm assuming it's dirtier than other brands, but since I can't afford to shoot too much, too often, and I enjoy cleaning my firearms, I'm not too concerned about the dirtiness. I'm more concerned about feeding, cycling, etc.

IME steel cased ammo, even the better stuff, does not do well in the PTR at all. I would stick to decent brass cased ammunition and save the steel cased fodder for something that isn't a roller-delayed blowback design.

:)

Both my 16" KF and GI PTRs run steel cased perfectly. Tula, Wolf, Silver/Brown Bear... all have functioned without mishap. Currently nearing the end of my last case of 1000 Tula .308s and had only a single failure out of the lot when my FAL short-stroked on one and stove-piped. Vast majority of the Tula was digested by the PTRs.

With the delayed blowback and fluted chamber, I really don't notice that it's any dirtier with the steel cased than with brass. Just by nature of the design you get a lot of blow-by, so sooty black deposits are to be expected with any ammunition.

From my experiences with a 16” variety it ran great on several different kinds of steel cased ammo.

That's interesting, a friend of mine had one and tried several steel cased brands (including Wolf and Barnaul), but didn't have a lick of luck. Wouldn't hurt to pick up a box or two and try it though (just don't buy a case before testing).

:)

I'd suspect their PTR was of earlier manufacture... the newer guns seem to be significantly less ammo sensitive and the GI is supposed to be built to original Hk chamber specifications.

Yep, I've no experience with the newer ones and wasn't aware of the change. That makes a great deal of sense, as the PTR has a match chamber, compared to the roomy HK G3 chamber.
