Woman Shoots Motorcyclist: "Reasonable" or "Unreasonable?"

I hate to see a THR member shoot down someone who gets out of the car to tell them that there gas tank lid is open

Why does everybody seem to be forgetting that this was a case of an on-road altercation? These arguments about "telling somebody their gas door is open" are ignorant in this situation and don't apply. There was an on-road altercation between the two parties. They BOTH maintained close enough contact with each other to travel 41 exits down the road before they stopped. Neither one tried to leave the situation. One person left their vehicle to confront another. The other person fired on the person that initiated contact. Let the judge and jury sort it out with factual evidence,not with theories and OPINIONS as to why one should or shouldn't do what these persons did. This is so far off topic it's stupid,and the personal attacks of both Motorcycle riders and Conventional vehicle drivers are absurd. Bikers are pissed off about the term "motorcycle thug",and are condemning those that use it,then they come right back and use the term "cager" in reference to everybody that drives a conventional vehicle. This is about as non-highroad as it gets.

He has rights, he has expectations of safety on a public road his taxes have paid to build. An idiot who cannot control a moving vehicle shouldn't even have a license, period.

In that case, I agree with the motorcyclist's decision to get off his bike and confront the crazy enraged aggressive SUV driver. He did the smart thing.

Getting shot in the chest is a small price to pay for getting this woman's driver license yanked. Now he can enjoy the roads his taxes paid for in peace.

Just think how much safer our roads would be if more people were willing to take a bullet to get a psycho off the road.

I just hope I get an enraged psycho woman trying to run me down in her SUV someday, so I can have an opportunity to behave exactly as this guy did.

ou are absolutely 100% correct. I'm sure that fact was some comfort to our evil biker thug while the stupid savage woman driver and her demonic offspring were kicking him as he lay bleeding on the ground

Agreed. While I don't think the Biker is CRIMINALLY liable he did make a series of stupid decisions that led to the situation.

1) If he was being tailgated for miles and miles and miles and feared for his life.... Sometimes it is better to let it go and let her pass. I am not saying always be a pacifist but sometimes it just isn't worth it (even if you are legally right).

2) Don't walk up to people you don't know to start a confrontation. Now I DONT think he intended to harm the shooter however I do think he was MAD and wanted to "explain some stuff to her" or "give her a piece of his mind". Once again not worth it. Even if she hadn't shot him, would she have listened? Reformed her ways? No. There was 0 benefit and a crap load of risk in his actions.

Lesson of the day:
There are crazy gun wielding people out there. Getting into a confrontation (even if you are not legally wrong) is not always worth it.

Ask the biker today if he would rather take it all back. Would he rather let her pass, take another exit, stayed on his bike? I think he would say it wasn't worth it.

As for the lady. We don't have all the facts but my gut doesn't buy self defense.
Why not stay in car?
Why not try to drive away?
Why not lock doors and draw weapon? If biker attempts to open car/break window/draw weapon then fire?

I personally hope she goes to jail for long time and felony conviction keeps her from legally owning gun for rest of her life. She is a threat to others.
ANGER/BOUNDARY ISSUES + LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY + CARRIED WEAPON = RISK TO SOCIETY.

I second the above statements. Motorcycle riders that wear the garb, ie."colors" and act the part sayin' "if I was to kick you around the pool table" or "when the club enforcers get done with you" also want to be treated differently than a "Blood" a "Crip" or an "MS 13" are delusional.
Gang members (or wannabes dressed like gang members) approaching my vehicle in traffic raise my alert level to high, very high. The truth is the "biker" passed the same number of exits that the shooter did. They both contributed to the final act.

The kid should get to stay in the 'Graybar Hotel".

If someone upsets you on the road, do the same thing you should do anywhere else, run away, run away. There really ain't no shame in it.

"Biker" describes mode of transportation . "Cager" describes mode of transportation . "Thug" describes a person . Big difference between "motorcycle thug" and "cager" .

i think the credibility of the witness matters a lot... nobody but Christ Himself knows if the woman was truly afraid. That's what a jury is for, to decide if she is being truthful, and reasonable.

I like the point someone else made about driving off, even if there was some damage to her own vehicle.

It would take a lot of thought and better knowledge of the facts before I would feel comfortable judging her if i was a jurist.

especially the ladies background, being accused by the postal carrier. Those postal people know about attitude problems.

Am I the only one that understood the newspaper story to say that EBT was weaving in & out of traffic trying to catch up to SSWD? right before she shot him? I'm gonna go back and check.
