Police: Woman Shoots Would-Be KillerSuspect Airlifted To University Hospital

[Video of victim on website: http://www.channelcincinnati.com/newsarchive/8766302/detail.html]

OWENSVILLE, Ohio -- A woman shot her would-be killer after wrestling a shotgun away from him Monday morning, according to police.

Sheriff A.J. Rodenberg [a very pro-CCW Sherrif, BTW] said Cassandra Gray found Gary L. Glass standing in her doorway and pointing a shotgun at her at about 7:30 a.m.

According to Rodenberg, Glass told Gray that she should get dressed so that they could leave her home in the 1700 block of U.S. 50. Glass apparently told the woman that he was going to kill her and then kill himself.

Gray convinced him to allow her to let her dogs outside, buying her time to call 911. When Glass saw her on the phone, he allegedly struggled with her, at which point Gray grabbed the weapon and ran into her dining room. Glass ran after her, so Gray shot him and then locked herself in a bedroom, police said.

Glass was airlifted to University Hospital for gunshot wounds to his lower body and legs, which Rodenberg said appeared to be non-life-threatening.

He's been charged with felonious assault, aggravated burglary, kidnapping and having a weapon under disability.

Glass was out on bond on charges of aggravated menacing, intimidation of a crime victim and criminal damaging, police said.

[He should have listened to the antis who say dont use a gun in a crime because the victim will just take it away and use it on you!]

He was out on bond for another crime, so having a gun was illegal. This couldn't have actually happened ... there are laws.

Lucky & Not too late

Local Fox news reported that most of the Thug’s priors were assaults relating to the victim. My thoughts are; Good dogs Gray’s (reported American Bull Terriers AKA news media darling Pits) were snacking on/distracting Glass, duffus put his gun down to address the dogs:scrutiny: , Gray then picked it up and shot Glass:neener: . She was very lucky & should have aimed a bit higher and saved Ohio’s taxpayers some money. TV media was interviewing Gray so I have to guess it was a very clean shoot.

Weapons Under Disibility is an Ohio criminal offense (Revised Code 2923.13) prohibits an individual from possessing a firearm if the person:

1. is a fugitive from justice
2. is under indictment for a felony offense of violence, has been convicted of a felony offense of violence, or has been adjudicated a delinquent child for such an offense.
3. is under indictment for or has been convicted of any offense involving the illegal possession, use, sale, distribution, trafficking, etc. in any drug of abuse (controlled substances), or adjudicated a delinquent child for such an offense.
4. is drug dependent, in danger of drug dependence, or a chronic alcoholic.
5. is adjudcated metally incompetent, metally ill, etc.

It is a felony of the third degree, punishable by 1 to 5 years in prison. Disability can be relieved after the sentence has been served, upon application to teh court which impose the sentence.

Actually, she said she picked it up and ran outside to get away. He was hot on her heels and she fell down. She fired, appearantly several times.

I'm curious as to type of firearm. Must not have been a shotgun, or he would have suffered more damage from shots at that close range to legs and "lower body." Probably a handgun. Surprised the TV new folks didn't ask and tell.

Wonder if she will get a CCW now or figure that her only threat is now locked away.

If a shotgun, could have been birdshot.

Be nice to keep tabs on how this plays out.

Invite that women to Wisconsin, for the fund raiser! :)

Recent event in the news, how even a criminal gained access to a firearm despite laws, effectiveness of restraining orders...and ...

One never knows the when or where of next encounter CRSam
