Profiteering is what I call it, and that is being nice. Call it capitalism if you like, but a skunk is a skunk.
There are several retailers that are keeping it real, though. Patience pays off.
I sent them an email questioning their ridiculous markup, here's the response:
Craig
We have seen over a 100% increase in cost on brass and bullets since the election. We kept the prices as low as possible until our existing inventory ran out. As you can see on our site we are out of stock on almost everything. I normally get shipments every week. It has been 7 weeks since my last shipment. It is a case of supply and demand. My suppliers are charging significantly more and I have to pass those costs to my customers. I understand the frustration, but there is nothing I can do about it if I want to stay in business. I'm not running a charity. I have to turn a profit. Thanks
I am keeping track of all those retailers who are taking advantage of this situation and I will not do business with them anymore. After all this craziness is over and prices come down I will remember those that jacked the prices up to 2 to 3 times what they were.
Any retailer has no choice but to raise prices in order to be able to re-stock at the new and higher prices.
Many retailers will likely go out of business if they don't make enough profit now to carry them--and their overhead--through the next few months of little to no re-stocking.
