I was browsing Amazon and decided to check when the new book by Matthew Bracken (THR's own Travis McGee) might be coming out. According to Amazon, it came out last Friday! I've been looking forward to this since reading Enemies Foreign and Domestic.

The book is Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista. Judging from his first book, I'm sure that this new work will have plenty of gun content -- and technical accuracy -- to satisfy those of us who cringe at the work of other authors who can't seem to get gun stuff right.

Congratulations to Matthew, and I wish him my very best. I'll be placing my order ASAP!

The URL for Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista is http://matthewbracken.web.aplus.net/bookde.htm

Once again, congratulations. I couldn't wait to share the good news!

Regards,
Dirty Bob

I read it while Matt was writing it: it is an even better book than the first one. The story-telling is smoother, the plot is excellent and the proof-reading was actually done right.

Looks like I will be heading over to Amazon. :D

Congrats Matt. I can't wait to read the book.

I bought the first book just to support Matt. I haven't read it yet, because books about gun control tend to thoroughly tick me off. As I respect books, anything likely to cause me to throw it across the room is contraindicated for the book's welfare or my ability to be a civilized human.

I'll probably end up getting this one as well and loaning them out. Maybe someday I'll even sit down and read them . . . with a bottle of muscadine wine just to reduce the tendency to engage in ballistic therapy.

Purchased Matt's new book at Amazon today, the first day it was available. Looking forward to a good read.

mine will be on the way as soon as Amazon gets around to sending it. Along with the first which I haven't read either.

I went to his website to buy a signed copy, but there was a message that he won't be able to for two weeks because he's moving from San Deigo to Florida. Way to abandon us... So anyway, I ended up buying it from Amazon. Been waiting too long for this to wait any longer.

Does Matt get a bigger cut from direct sales or from Amazon? Is there a reason to use Amazon over buying directly from Matt?

Yep...ordered mine yesterday. Matt, if you're out there I loved the first book, and if you had a PayPal account set up I would have ordered a signed copy direct. Just a hint for the release of the third one ;)

anyone else order from amazon and having problems?

ordered july tenth and they are now telling me close to september :fire:

I'm looking forward to this one. I've been checking Matt's website and it just says available in July.

The page on Amazon says 1-3 weeks for shipping (normal is 1-2 days). I think Matt may be having problems with his printer. I know the date on his website kept getting pushed farther back.

Hopefully, he will pop in here and give us all an update.

Direct sales would give him more profit but how many people are going to find their way to his site? Amazon gets many more visitors so he can sell many more books. Myself I'd rather get a signed copy to go with the first one! :)

I have to wait alot for new books and the dates change often. They can't send it until they get it...

The order page of his website says this:

DOMESTIC ENEMIES: THE RECONQUISTA will be printed the third week of July, 2006,
Matt is leaving Aztlan for Florida, and will be on the road the week that the book is produced.
Pre-orders will be signed, inscribed and shipped as soon Matt has arrived in Florida in late July.

I think I am just going to order a signed copy of each from him. I already own the first, but eventually having signed copies of the whole trilogy wil be cool.
