Would you feel good about killing in self defense?

I would feel . . . alive.

In fairness though, "alive" isn't really an emotion in the sense that I refer to it, but a 'state of being.'

In the end, I think perhaps it is the 'state of being' which matters most. That is to say that, I could end up dead and not feel anything about the shooting, OR; keep myself alive, and my feelings be subject to consideration/therapy.

It is a cold equation.

I would feel good to be alive.

If my attacker has done something to me or a loved one that justifies taking my attackers life, I don't think much else matters.

Well this is a loaded question when you think about it.

if you say you wouldnt mind, your lumped into the "raving nutjob serial killer" group.
If you say youd pee your pants and cry everytime you heard a noise that resembled a "bang" youd be put in the rubber pants/rubber room brigade and sent to talk with oprah or doctor phil before you made yourself choke to death on your zoloft.

Seriously here, its a long held, and commonly accepted social rule that when a person goes to another person and sticks a weapon in their face or tries to use said weapon on them, that they the attacking party, thus accept all forms of reciprocation from their victim. And that acceptance is wholesale, wether the intended victim reciprocates with a handgun/rifle/shotgun/baseball bat/etc.
Its the whole basis for the most endearing film and tv genre in american history. The WESTERN. How many episodes of Gunsmoke ended with "well he had a gun on him to, he had every chance to put his gun away and leave. Well you can leave town anytime you want?"

Do you feel guilt about killing a rabid dog before it eats your livestock/children? I dont think you would.

I am late to this and have read a few sensible responses.
To feel good about the killing of another is not where it is at IMHO. To be able to do it, under the correct conditions is something all have to live with after the deed is done.

Many times it is not something many folks can live with very easily. If you are in that line of work where the possibility is always present (LEO) than I believe you have to have the ability to do it and do it fast and worry about it later. That comes with training, the post trama has a training of sorts and it is best to go through that class also.

To all who have gone that route (killing) my heart goes out to you and yours,((true criminals not included in my gesture), many have rehabilitated and come back to society and helped others, for those brave souls I wish you well.

The killing aspect is very small in reality of life and those who live a normal life are not subjected to it as much as those who have chosen a profession where it might come into play more (military and law enforcement).

If you feel good about killing and that is something you look forward to, well it is a disorder that is not easily overcome. There are many societies that handle it better than others. Samurai were one of them, many others of course and history has shown the cruel and killers of society are truly in a small percentage as society gets more civilized.

If I ever have to shoot someone it will be because it's HIM or ME/Family. Given those circumstances, the choice will always be ME/Family. I will shoot to STOP the threat, and if he's smart he will stop before that means stopping his life.

Will I feel good about it? I hope not! However I'm sure I'll feel better than I would had he killed me or members of my family
