We all know that Ebay is anti-gun...nothing new. The beauty of Ebay is that they will let you sell all your garage sale type items and whatever you want, EXCEPT gun stuff that is not politically correct. You know, those awful mean and ugly Hi-Cap (Full Capacity) magazines for pistols and awful "assault weapons"

You get the idea...

The question is, if you are currently an Ebay seller, either part time, full time, or only when cleaning out the garage, would you quit using Ebay to use a site that was founded by Pro-Gun people?

The site has all the features that you are used to, just not owned by anti-gun people.

I am looking for real opinions here, not just hell yeah, anything pro-gun is great type of responses.

You could list all the regular items you sell on ebay and also those mean and awful scary "assault weapon" accessories.

Please let me know!

I am not a regular "e-bayer" but, like anything else, would always support a company with a pro-gun vs. anti-gun ownership. I've got another question. If you have something to sell, do you sell it on e-bay, knowing they are anti-gun and there is no "pro-gun" alternative, or do you just put an ad in the paper or take some other course?

For example, I'd never eat Ben + Jerry's ice cream. If we were out and people I was with saw a B+J and wanted to stop in, I'd go somewhere else or go without. If they were the only ice cream maker, I just wouldn't eat ice cream. However, there really isn't a good, pro-gun alternative to ebay and for some items it really is the best way to sell. So do you use them in spite of their politics, or possibly take a hit limiting the audience you can advertise your item to?

Can anyone think of other businesses or products where the only supplier is anti-gun? Do you patronize them?

By the way, guyindallas, do you know of an alternative or are you thinking of starting one. Also, Cowboys suck, go Birds!

I won't use Ebay, AOL, ATT, etc.

I can't stop using all antigun companies but I do what I can.

It's like the folks saying only buy American.
They are in their Mexican brick house, in front of their Jap TV, wearing Korean boots and Chinese clothes, holding their Glock pistol loaded with Russian ammo.:D

I have bought several guns, magazines and leather off of www.gunbroker.com

which is basically run on the same software evilbay uses (so its got the same functions, look and feel).

So I guess my answer is twofold.

1. Yes I would use such a service
2. Such a service already exists and I already DO use it. :D

www.gunbroker.com
www.gunsamerica.com
www.auctionarms.com

there are a couple others out there, but those are the "big 3"

Zundfolge...

I agree with your points, there are already sites for this...gun related. This is more of things that are not gun related, in addition to gun stuff. Again, those garage sale items that you already buy and sell, in addition to gun stuff, all in one place.

Would you use it?

I'd probably be more likely to use it as a buyer than as a seller.

From a buyers perspective as a new site I wouldn't face as much competition and could find bargains easier.

From a sellers aspect, when you can generate the traffic Ebay has, then I might consider listing my junk.

There are already lots of sites trying to mimic Ebay, none can do it due to traffic alone. It will be hard for anyone to knock them down.

Buy/sell your guns stuff on Auction Arms or Gunbroker, everything else goes to Ebay. Simple economics.

The problem from a "general stuff" perspective is eyeballs. You want as many eyes on your potential selling item as possible. Right now EBAY has TONS of traffic, so it is much more likely that you'll sell something, and sell it at the best price, on EBAY.

So while I would be tempted to try out another service aside from EBAY, it seems that by their very size they OWNZ me. :(

Bump to top since many folks around the country are coming home and probably getting online. I want to get as much input as possible.

I have not used any on-line auction type site to buy or sell yet. I think it would depend on the amount of trafic a site like the one you are describing is able to generate. Trafic = more sales= more trafic and so on.

My ? would be how do you take a brand new site from nothing to anything remotely like e-bay. If I could answer that question realistically, I'd build the site.

I think it's a great idea. This is one way "the silent majority" can begin to speak, even if it's more like whisper at first.
