A week ago my father in law turned me onto this message board. I had just purchased my first gun, a neos 22 cal, and I had a bunch of questions. I can say that almost any question I had I have been able to find the answer here. The biggest problem now is that I have been bitten buy the bug and now am looking to purchase a 45acp so I can go play with the rest of the family. I just wanted to say WOW and thanks for the education.

Welcome to the board..I have shot rifles for only 2 years "every month or so" at the most and just a few months ago i got into pistols and have really started to get into the gun thing .This place has been great no matter how minor my questions have been i always get an answer and have never felt like anyone was making fun of me for not knowing basic questions.Stick with this place and post alot..Welcome aboard..


Ps - If you dont know the diference between a clip and a magazine learn so "They will skin you alive here for not knowing" :) J/k

Yeah, Jon shot my son's 1911 last week and now he's hooked, shows pretty good promise too.

Well, back to the basement and the 550B, looks like I'm gonna be busy. ;)

.45 acp? WHAT? Everyone KNOWS a 9mm is way better...:D
Well, cheaper to feed anyway.
Some say the 1911 is an experts gun so get a Glock (30).
Others would tell you to start with a Ruger 90/97 or S&W 457.
And then there's them what think that a S&W N-Frame is the cats whiskers or a Sig 220ST...
Then there's the few, the weird and strange ones who like (if you can imagine this) CZ97's. Or Beretta.
And then (you always come back to this one) there's the 1911 again... but by who? What size? Finish? New or used? Stock or tricked out and if so, how far?
You have your work cut out for you sir.
Can't go wrong with any of them, and by the time you're my age, if you continue to hang out here and be corrupted by everyone here, I'd expect you to have one or more of each ;)
And does your honeybee shoot too?
So again I say... welcome. And tell us a little more about your Neo.

woo hoo, i am in colorado springs twice a year how do i get an invite to come shoot!;)

that is one of my goals when i move out and get my own place. considering my range has been flooded and frozen over for a month now and i want to shoot my new Siaga.:banghead:
 
sweet. Colorado Springs is always a pit stop on my way to Vail. Colorado is my favorite place in the world. I come out every summer to do some camping in Vail since it's 7 dollars a night. then the last night i stay at the Ritz for a little pampering. I love it there i am only 20 but that doesn't matter, they treat me like everyone one else who stays there. and that's hard to come by i usually get treated like crap for being young.

Ohh man now you people have me dreaming of colorado.
anyone know of a nice area where i could get a good chunk of land? preferably in the mouuntains somewhere. i hope to move out there once i graduate next year.
 
Well, I love the NEOS. It is just SEXY!! That is what got me. Fun and cheap to shoot. As for the 1911 Larry and his son both have them so ammo should be readily availble when I am broke. At the moment i am a little overwhelmed with all the choices. At the moment I am looking at a Dan Wesson Patriot Marksman. But who know what will happen.

Yes, withawhat's "Honey Bee" does shoot. Larry likes to start them early, and keep them at it! With the 4 Grandsons he has now, and the promise of more to come, He'll be spending a lot of time in the basement on the 550. They already all have their first rifle, just waiting for a little more growth. With 2 pro-gun SIL's and a pro-gun DIL he needs a range out the back door, it keeps the family close. Almost forgot, welcome to THR withawhat. I'll be shooting with you soon. S.R.
 
Hard to imagine, but when i first met Larry and S.R. I was very anti gun. Amazing what a little education and time around the right people can do for you.
Can't wait to come down again because this time I will have a 1911 to play with.
