I'm looking to find out how many fires the reloaders are getting out of their brass. Are you reloading the nickel plated or brass cases? What caliber are you shooting? What is the load like pressure wise? Wondering if I should pick up more unfired brass now or wait and see how my reloads do.

Are you more interested in pistol or rifle related information? Specific calibers? I reload 9mm and 45ACP pistol brass. Number of reloads on my brass cases are more than you can count on one hand, you lose them before they fail. Pressure wise my loads are on the lower side as I load for target velocity, not major PF or +p stuff. Don't bother with nickel plated stuff. It doesnt' hurt to pick up range brass if you're able to. At best you'll be able to use it, at worst it's worth about $1.50 a pound to recycle it if you don't use it.

Probably not alot of WSSM shooters out there, but I am a WSM shooter.....

I get 10+ reloads out of my 270WSM and 300WSM nickel and brass alike. The nickel ones split then neck before anything else As with any caliber, dont bump the shoulder back too far and you'll get better life.

hope this helps

I shoot a 25 WSSM. You should realistically get 5-10 loads out of them if you aren't hot rodding them. Annealing necks after five loads should keep you running a long time.

I just bought 500 cases when I got the rifle and I'm not worried about the brass in the least wearing out. This isn't a PD rifle I'll shoot 150-200 times in an afternoon.

I have a 300 WSM and I have 14 reloads on my present batch of 100 brass. Both brass and plated with no failures yet. I will keep checking them and shooting them until I starting to have failures before I retire them. At this point I have none of the WSSM or Ultra MAG rifles so no experience for you.

Yes, I was asking about the Winchester Super Short Magnums. I shoot a .243 wssm. I'm just starting reloading them. Not sure what kind of load/pressure I will be shooting. Just looking for something that is more accurate and cheaper then the $35 a box I find locally.

I'll have to do some reading up on annealing the necks.

Rifle is used for target practice and hunting.

The 500 cases I picked up are FC stamped brass, not the Winchester nickel plated stuff.

For my bottle neck cartridges, I neck the brass. When head space gets too snug, I bump the shoudlers back a smidge. On average and depending on what cartridge I'll get any where from 8 - 15 reloads. The important thing is to keep an eye out for the initial signs of splits and separations.

The process I use to help spot brass that is near death, is resize and then tumble to expose those initial signs.

I've loaded 223 WSSM before, and I know that Winchester WSSM brass is thicker than standard type brass because of the high pressures that WSSM cartridges run from the factory. I have not used FC brass.
Like all brass, if you hotrod your loads, you'll likely get half as many loads from them as mid power range loads that probably work as well.

I had a 243wssm, but got rid of it and didn't reload for it. I would suspect ( read guess) 500 pcs of brass will last about as long as your barrel does.
