I am having trouble attempting to interpret the WV handgun hunting regs.
They state:
What measure of the .357 Magnum cartridge are they referring to? Caliber? Muzzle Energy? If so, what .357 load are the referring to?
The language isn't very clear. With the bottle-necked case, it is clear: no less than a caliber (diameter) of 0.24".
Simple version: My friend wants to hunt deer in WV with a full size 1911 .45ACP. Can he do it, and if so, what load should he use.
Thanks,
DZ

WV DNR said:a handgun using a straight-walled case of less than .357 magnum cartridge or a bottle-necked case of less than .24 caliber.
