This is a great old movie made to demonstrate the range of weapons available to the troops in the field during WWII: 1911, .30 Carbine, .30 Cal, and on up.

I worked on enhancing the audio and video. The audio was a kind of a mess, particularly in the beginning, but I did what I could.

Hope you like it:

That would have been interesting. I'm not sure how extensively they were used in the ETO during WWII.

Thanks for your work on that old film.

Audio was still a bit 'sketchy' at first, so it must REALLY have been bad.

Againm, a tip o' the hat for your work

Thanks for that. It was really interesting. I love some of the narration: "He'll need more than an aspirin for that headache!"

Mr.Dig: You bet, my pleasure, glad you liked it.

Rifle: Thank you, sir, I've got a few more I've found I'll be working on and posting.

Nice video. I didn't know that a 06 could shoot through a tree.
Was it just me or did anyone think the opening scene at the bowling alley look newer than the rest of the video especially considering that the video was geared towards WWII.

I'm wondering about the .30-06 through a 12 inch oak tree at 50 yards myself....seems a tad unbelievable?

Anyone else?

If anyone has a way to find, or point me where to find, the original films, I'd love to do a high quality digital transfer.

Great stuff! A lot of these training films during WWII and the Cold War were actually put together by some very big-name directors and cinematographers who joined the Signal Corps and ran a major de facto studio out of NYC. I wish someone would restore them for distribution with some commentary on the background, but apart from the very best known examples like John Ford's Midway and Aleutians movies, there's not much out there linking the many public domain training films with any particular filmmakers.
