It's the CMP RM1HRASPECIAL. I had ordered the RM1SPECIAL which was the Springfield Armory receiver. But after I placed the order, their website showed the SA receiver was sold out and they weren't accepting new orders.

So I called CMP and talked to one of their armorers and he said, in his opinion, the H&R receiver is just as good as the SA and in some respects, better. He said he felt that H&R had paid more attention to detail than SA.

So I changed the order. I mailed the check and paperwork on November 11th and the rifle arrived today (Dec 10th). Not bad considering they're saying allow up to 180 days for delivery.

The ammo, along with the clips, are supposed to arrive tomorrow.

I used to train with a Garand in military school back in the 60s. Only, we never got to shoot one. It'll be a treat to get to hold the rifle in a way different from (holding it) over my head while shouting, "Yes Sargeant Major!"

Very nice, I have one that is very similar and I enjoy shooting it fairly often. Recoil is easy and it is a very accurate rifle. Congets.

Sweet rifle, but that tripod is also a neat looking device. I thought it was a toy then I saw the little level bubble on it.

That's beautiful rifle. I love the CMP black walnut (which came on my Service Grade rifle as well).
