Right there on the main page. Brother in law put about 250 rounds through his last weekend with no problems despite one magazine having a busted follower.

I will be picking up a 4" stainless when one becomes available.

ZZZarkt

This is a polymer gun. It only comes in Black, OD Green, and a Bi Tone. I assume the Bi-Tone is black and OD Green, I see no information as to a stainless steel gun. Did I miss something or are you speaking about the included SS Magazine?

Like the previous XD models, Springfield makes a version with a stainless steel slide. They tend to be more rare than the all black or green frame models.

The bi-tone usually refers to the stainless slide / black frame models.

I own a brand new Springfield XD-45 ACP. Mine is from the first production
run, and of course is the all black service model complete with the GEAR
accessory's. Fit and finish, this gun is perfect. I haven't gotten it too the
range just yet; but that is about to change. My price OTD was $399~!:D

BTW, after it proves too be "battle ready" I'm thinking of adding
the Streamlight M-6 tactical laser illuminator and making this weapon
my primary home defense firearm, thus retiring my famed West German
SIG-SAUER .45 caliber P220A that has done yeoman's duty. The extra
(13+1) magazine capacity would be the main reason for the switch.

After you've shot it please let us know how it compares to your P220A in terms of felt recoil, etc.

I saw one yesterday when I went to pick up my RRA CAR A4 and it caught my eye! Ive had a fullsize P99 9mm AS on order for over 2 months now and theres a chance I might not even get it. Im really really debating on saying screw the P99 and get the XD45. Its cheaper and I already have a P99compact AS. ARRGGHHH!!!

Yes, getting the A/S Walther is very tough now.

That .45 XD has caught my attendtion as well :)

I have put 600 rds through mine in 2 sessions. 400 rds was Fiocchi, 100 rds was mixed 185 and 230gr hollow points, and the last 100rd was Fed 230gr Hydra Shocks. Very light lubrication on the rails before I started and no cleaning between the sessions.

Very uneventfult - no failures of any kind. POI is about 1 inch low at 20yds. Windage is fine. I was able to make 2 20yd head shots in under a second. For me, with this type of a trigger and a gun I have very little time with, I am pleased.

I am a 1911 guy, always have been and always will be. My second favorite has always been the P220. I have a couple of those.

I tried a couple of Glocks but they just don't point right. I spend most of my time with 1911's, P220's, and a fair amount of time with a Beretta Elite II. The Glocks were just too slow to get on target and never felt right after dragging the front sight down out of the clouds on presentation.

This is the only XD I have ever fired, but it seems they have done what Glock messed up.

So far, I like this pistol. The trigger stinks, but it doesn't stink any worse than the others that use this type of action, better than some. The loaded chamber, cocked indicator, and grip safety give it a big leg up on the Glocks too in my mind. I also like the idea of having stainless mag bodies instead of polymer.

They have done a wonderful job of getting 13rds of 45 to fit in a smaller grip area. It certainly is smaller than the G21 grip, and it "points" right!

For the money, I think this is going to make a great truck gun! Considering the extra capacity, it might replace one of my 220's!

Does anyone know when or if they will come out with a five inch version? I have an XD 40 caliber in 5 inch and would be interested in trading it in for the 45 in 5 inch if they will make it.

Not shipping yet - but soon - according to the person I spoke with at SA when I called to find out that extra mags are not shipping yet.

Just F.Y.I;

Word from Springfield is that the XD-45ACP and all new XD's produced have a new "Melonite" finish.

Supposed to be compareable to Glock's Tennifer finish.

Might not need to wait for that stainless one afterall.

Who's perfect now? :D

S&W has been using the melonite finish for a while - The SW99 has it, and the new M&P has it as well.
