Now that they have been released, to everyone that has one, tell me what you think? Are they really much of an improvement over the original XD45? I have the original XD45 Tactical and I want to add an XDM45. So does the match barrel and trigger really make much difference? Or is the XDM45 all aesthetics?

Also are the magazines for the XD45 and XDM45 interchangeable? Thanks.

Don't own one, but have been skeptical of the 'match grade barrel' ballyhoo-as an XD owner, you probably already know how well the standard XD shoots.

Was at the magazine rack a few months back and noticed one of the gun rags had an XD comparison article (think it was XDSC, XD, XDm) and the first thing I did was flip to the end to see the groups they got with the various models-not surprisingly, they didn't group any better with the XDm than the others, and the XDSC actually grouped better at a few distances/with various ammo.

I think the XDm45 is the only one of the XDm line that uses the same magazines as the standard XD. That's both good and bad-good 'cause a lot of folks don't like the standard mags not working, bad because the 45 is the only one that doesn't offer a round capacity increase.

I've got a couple of XDSCs (9 & 40), and the XD45 Compact has been on my short list for too long!

If you would have read the rest of the artical, you would have seen why the 45 mags are the same. The 9mm, and 40S&W mags were redesigned to use all the wasted space inside. By time the XD45 was introduced, the Croatians figured it out, and designed the 45 mags with no wasted room, so the XDm picked up no capacity.:)

I never owned the XD-45, but I shot my friend's and as a 1911 guy I complained about the creepy trigger. When I felt the trigger of the XDm-45 I bought it. I won't tell you it is as good as a 1911, but what is! I will say that the trigger is greatly improved, no creep and a much shorter reset. I actually feels close to a SA revolver trigger.

Another great benefit is the grip; It feels like a wide 1911 with an arched mainspring housing.
It also has the best accuracy I have found from a tupperware (some remaining distain) gun.
I am absolutely satisified with mine.

I put a review here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=530619

Didn't really read the article-just went straight to the range tests at the end to see how much better the match grade barrel was ('bout as I figured).

Just one more strike against the XDm45 in my book-at least with the 9 and 40 you get higher capacity, but fer myself, I don't like the extra grip length etc required to get it.

Ain't no XD fanboy, but it fit my needs for a CCW, and I've always liked the XD45 compact.

I gotta confess-I just don't get the whole XDm 'thang?

I bought mine because the trigger is better out of the box and a fully supported chamber. I feel the fully supported chamber helps brass to stay usable. I also liked the grip better, and that means more to me than anything else.

I bought an XDm 45 right after they came out. It is my first polymer pistol. I am a double action revolver shooter and I find the XDm trigger to respond much the same way, so it has a very comfortable feel for me. I found the grip much improved over the original XD. Takedown does now not require a trigger pull to get the slide off. As for accuracy, I can group this gun as well as any revolver or 1911 that I own. I did replace the rear sights with Truglo TFO's. At the time of sight installation I had the gunsmith smooth the action with no new parts.
I reload mostly plated 200gr flat point bullets using a wide variety of powders. All my loads feed without issue. I have now made this gun my primary home defense firearm.

I put a mag full of ammo through my Friends XDm9, and it shot very well for me, the grip frame seemed better than my XD9 of yesteryear.
