I bow hunted years ago, I had a bear white tail II. it was a good bow for it's time. then working all over the country for the railroad took me away from archery. I was just given an old XI Ultra cam I believe is what it says. 2 dozen arrows and a release. the bow has an XI overdraw system and XI ultraglow sights.

I went to the local indoor range and got it sighted in, and sot a few times sense. I like the bow, though I must say that after 20+years I am a little rusty.

I have been looking for information about the XI bows, I have not found much. What I have read so far is that they were pretty good bows. any information would be helpful.

I plan on shooting this summer and hunting with it next fall.

thanks

Xi looks to have been an older company, before my time. Could we get a picture or two im curious. I found some info and pictures of an Ultra magnum, and Ultra magnum 80, but no Ultra Cam.

"...I am a little rusty..." Doesn't take 20 years to lose the upper body tone. Believe me. Takes about 2 weeks. Fortunately, it can take about that long to get most of it back if you're not too far gone. Point is to get some upper body toning exercise.
Is an XI Ultra cam a Hoyt brand? Manuals from 2002 to now are here some place. http://hoyt.com/support
Likely a good idea to take the thing to a bow shop(a real one, not a shop that sells archery kit along with everything else) for an once over too.
"...pictures from my phone to the pc..." Got all the cables that came with the phone? One of 'em is for connecting the phone to a PC. Otherwise, you can usually e-mail 'em to yourself. Then cut and paste to a directory then to a free picture posting site.

here are a couple of pics of my bow

I believe that actually an XI Ultima. Ive found reference to them, but my googlefoo has failed to produce a picture.

My reading suggests that they were a well made bow, plenty good enough to hunt with. If you arent familiar with compounds and signs of ware/agging, i suggest having someone who is take a look at it (if you didnt already that is).

Ive been looking for one of those older hatchet cam or wheel bows for finger shooting, so ive seen quite a few that had serious ware. Couple things that usually need to be changed are the strings, and the cable slide.

loonwulf, thank you for that. I did have it looked over by my local bow shop and he tried to buy it off me, but after shooting it, I do not want to part with it.

Theres something raw and fun about those old compounds. I hunt and usually shoot much newer ones, but I really enjoy seeing and shooting the older bows. Ive used a few older compound risers to build recurves also, its fun to keep them active.
