well i've recently acquired about 400 of these from my dad to load for his 380. I didn't want to risk any problems with the heavier bullet so i got him some 100 gr round nose. those work fine.

I am currently loading xtreme's 124 gr cprn in 9mm. I was just wondering how these 115 gr hps perform? will they expand? couldn't really find a good answer online. if anything i'll just make target ammo out of them because that's what they seem.

Plated bullets have not done much expanding in what I have shot them into. No soft target or game animal data though.

I can dig them out of logs and my berm and they look just like FMJs MOST of the time. Every now and then I do get one that has expanded pretty well. Fwiw I think the hollow point is clogging up on the ones I am recovering. That could explain the occasional expansion maybe?

Expansion in a soft target may be different, but the plating tends to be quite thick and tough, so they would have to be really moving to expand I would think. Chances are expansion will be spotty at best.

Most of mine are at 1000 fps or less from 45 acp, light 357 mag, and 9mm. I have put a few through the 10mm at around 1300 fps... I do not believe they notably expanded either

Excellent target bullets IMHO, but lacking for defense or hunting use.

Excellent target bullet. Don't know much about the expanding point, but after Ramshot published +P data for them, and I experimented with Silhouette they are deadly accurate.

I thought the plated lead hollow points from xtreme were designed for target shooting. Can't remember where I saw it, but my understanding is that the hollow point is for accuracy, not expansion.

I've had great luck with xtreme bullets in both 9mm and 45acp. 147 grain 9mm xtreme with 4 grains of 800x was ridiculously accurate. This week I've loaded up some xtreme 115 grain round nose bullets with a few different powders, and I plan to test them this weekend.

let us know our results!

A plated bullet is just a cast bullet dressed up. And are loaded using cast data. HP's expand only if the velocity is high enough. Very much doubt you can drive a plated bullet fast enough to expand reliably.
115's are 9mm Parabellum bullets, not .380's. Hodgdon, for example, has no 115 grain .380 data. Neither does Alliant.

I though I'd always heard mid range jacketed data was the data to use for plated...? not to exceed 1200 fps

Potatohead, you heard right, but I think the Max limit is 1500.

I drive the .355 124FP to 1380fps in a 357Sig with great results.

As far a expansion is concerned most factory rounds run 1050 to 1150 fps, well within plated speeds

I have loaded 115s in a .380, but only once. They functioned, and quite well, but I'd rather stay with the 90-100 grain bullets for that caliber.

The Xtreme plated are not designed for expansion, though you will get some if you push them fast enough. They are target, competition and plinking rounds.
