10yrs ago you could buy 1911 ivory all day long for $300.Ivory is obscenely expensive. Les told me that the set on my avatar were around $800 as an option. And that was ten years ago. Mine are starting to yellow, slightly, which doesn't show in the pic. I keep the gun in my safe, away from the light. The gun came with a certification letter stating that the ivory was imported into this country before a certain date, making it "old" ( and legal ) ivory.
P.S. whoever did that scrimshaw work should be ashamed of ruining a good set of ivory grips. Yeesh.
Seriously, inquiring minds want to know????This has gone on long enough, did the tusks get took or tossed?
Tacky can be cool. I like them. The scrimshaw just looks…how can I put this politely? It looks tacky, but I wouldn’t sand those down. I would pass.
Got any pictures/links? All I'm finding is something not gun related.LOL, you guys should look up LARRY FLINTS (revolver and handgun custom grips) scrimshaw ivories. You will howl with laughter.
To be blunt they might not be around any more. With the WOKE / Left around. They were explicit pornographic imagery. Larry pulled no punches with them. His Ruger 6 series revolver was something else, brother. I'll see if I can find the stuff and i'll send you the link. NO WAY I'm posting those pics here.Got any pictures/links? All I'm finding is something not gun related.
