They're all I have - CCI LR Magnum primers, and I can't find any LR primers locally. They're going to be used in a Marlin lever action 1936 rifle. I haven't decided on a powder yet, but was thinking 3031. I'm not looking for a moon shot with these, just plinking - probably the 110 gr. RN bullets... I know to start low, and work up, but can I use the magnums?

Yes you can.But you'll need to lessen the powder charge a couple of grains to accomidate the magnum primer.Otherwise it will be loaded too hot.

If you start out at the recommended starting load with magnum primers you should be OK pressure wise. Just watch for obvious pressure signs if you decide to work up. Actually, according to the current Speer Manual 14, several powders used with 150 and 170 gr bullets require magnum primers.

It shouldn't matter, they aren't that much hotter, just reduce your powder a bit - like the others stated, watch for pressure signs.

One good thing is, if you hunt in freezing cold temperatures, it is advisable to have Magnum Primers! :)

Thx! I think I might actually use the AA2460 powder - I have some left over from my .223 loads, I can use it across several calibers - 223, 30-06, and 30-30...

I tried the 110 grainers with H335. Blew fire 6 feet out of the barrel.. hahahaha

I use N120 with the 125 grain Sierra. No published data for that load. You have to work it up.. I used the 130 grain data, and just worked up slowly.
I have some 110 grainers. I haven't found what the powder of choice is going to be, but RL7 seems like a good one. I might try some N120, but that powder is like gold, and is hard as heck to find.

3031 with Magnum primers. Just back down a grain, and work back up.
