This one is simple, which is favorite carry round? This isn't a discussion of which is best or worst, what you should or shouldn't carry, only what you DO carry.
I carry either 9mm or .38 special. I tend to carry the revolver more as the like the firearm itself more. But I also like some of the advantages the 9mm cartridge can offer over the .38. Since this poll appears to be more about the ammo, and not the gun, I voted 9mm.
I never understood the 357 sig. Yes, it gives you a faster 9mm but it sacrifices capacity. With the same capacity as the 40, I think I'd rather have the heavier 40 caliber bullet myself. With all that said, I actually carry a 45 ACP
Since I don't really have a "favorite" carry caliber, I went with what I've decided to carry today when I go out ... which is one of my J's loaded with .38 Spl +P. (Probably one of my M&P 340 .357's, but loaded with .38 +P )
I don't feel like wearing a belt gun today, as I'll probably stop by the cigar club and want to sit out in the sun on the patio in a T-shirt without wearing my leather jacket, which leaves out my 9's, .40's & .45's, and I wanted to have something a little heavier than a .380 along today while riding my motorcycle through the hills ... so a 5-shot snub gets the duty.
Now, if this poll had been taken while I was still working, and applied to duty weapon calibers, then I'd probably have picked 9mm (and I finished my career carrying .40 and then .45 ).
I'm curious about whether you voted on your own poll. If so, which did you choose? (No wrong answer, just curious.)
I carry a Glock 36 with 185gr Corbon DPX most of the time, when it gets really cold and I wear a long coat I'll switch to a full sized 1911 with 230gr Winchester Rangers. The only time it varies is if I am riding my bicycle, and its a .38 in my jersey pocket.
