Your Favorite Ruger & Why

I think of all my Rugers, my favorite would have to be my 10/22. It's a JBM Bullpup, an all aluminum stock using a 1967 10/22 as it's skeleton. It's simply fun.

Do you know if those JBM chasses are still available anywhere? I tried making a 10/22 into a bullpup using the Aklys chassis system and didn't particularly care for it. It's currently in "partially disassembled very low on the list to-do project" status. o_O

My favorite Ruger is this SS ROA mainly because it is the only one of 4 of mine that has been through my shop! Lol !

It probably still will be after I get this finished (they'll all end up this way!):

A gated conversion which this one is the proto for.

Some may notice that the SS version is missing the trigger spring and plunger . . . its been replaced with a coil/torsion mounted in the frame . . . Where it should be !!!! Lol!!!

According to his FB page, he's been out of business since 2019. https://www.facebook.com/jbuntingbullpups/

I've seen them come up now and then on ebay.

You know there is the High Tower Armory PS90 lookalike featuring the 10/22 also. And not quite as expensive as the JBM. https://www.hightowerarmory.com/High-Tower-Armory-9022-Flat-Dark-Earth_p_32.html

I'm pretty sure, if I remember right, that's the same as the Aklys ZK-22 that I mentioned above didn't work out for me:

Has a different rail, but I think that if I remember my research both come from the same OEM, so the problem I had with the Aklys I'll bet the HTA is the same.

HTA makes a heck of a bullpup chassis for Hi-Point PCC's though.

My favorite is the old SECURITY SIX.

I find it the perfect balance of size, power and balance with the 4 inch blue guns as my favorite. It is very similar to my favorite S&W range gun, a K-frame model 15 with a 4 inch barrel. I can actually use the same holster for both guns, they are so similar.

Favorite? Where do I start.... I'd have to say my Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Lipsey's Special Edition 44 Magnum.... 3 5/8" Barrel. Very packable in the field and surprisingly controllable and comfortable to shoot, even with heavy loads. It just balances perfectly on target. It's a do it all revolver that has become a real favorite... Guys at the club are afraid to shoot it, and call me Dirty Harry, but anyone who has mustered the courage to try it, is shocked by how controllable and well it shoots. My shooting partner and I routinely put the smack down on 6" plates at 75 yards with it. I love that pistol!

One of my favorites is this Single Six. I bought it from a local forum so I wish I knew its story.

I believe the stocks are original Ruger stags. The guy I bought it from said the gun came with the stags when the previous owner bought it new. My research says that Ruger sold the stags separately.

For me, it's a three way tie; two of these my Dad owned (.44 Mag. Bisley Vaquero and Ruger Old Army) and the one I owned; a 7" Ruger Redhawk. Yet another gun I regret letting go.

The old New Model Super Blackhawk the photo bombers nose is touching. 44 Mag, I think 1978 manufactured. Had to add the Hogues as I'm getting on in age and it is a bit easier for me to hang on to with full power loads.
The only one of the bunch that a better shooter is the non Ruger above it
Hey, boy. Show them Daddy's favorite Ruger. There ya go, good dog! :D

I've always said "I can't buy a better round than I can load, and I can't load a better round than I can buy. Nor do I save any money by reloading, but I sure shoot a whole lot for the same amount of money."

I respectfully disagree with the part about not being able to reload better than factory.
My Reloads allow me to have better, more accurate ammo than what I could buy.
I've seen too many targets to say otherwise.

Just my 2¢ worth YMMV

Yeah, it seems like he misspoke in the original quote. Is it just me, or do the two halves of that sentence contradict each other? Or is he saying that the quality of factory ammo and of reloads is exactly the same? That doesn't seem right to me either. I would think that the quality of ammo -- both factory and reloads -- is all over the map and has to be compared on a case-by-case basis.

My experience is with handgun ammunition, and I'll qualify my statement with that thought. As to the accuracy of factory ammunition, I've found it to be superb, so long as its from the major American ammo makers, Winchester, Remington, and Federal. Years ago when I had a chronograph I tested a number of different cartridges and found them to be consistent in velocity spread, as well as being very accurate. Granted, home made cartridges can be made to perform better in one particular gun, but the stuff that comes out of the factories is superb.
