Many of the outdoor enthusiasts that I know (who also shoot) seem to have a favorite "truck gun". A truck gun can mean many things to different people, depending on the reasons that they carry the gun, and their particular interests within the shooting world.
What's your truck gun, and what do you like about it?

Here's mine:
It's a Romanian M1969 training rifle. It's a simple bolt-action 22lr that I like for a number of reasons:
1) It is accurate enough. The rifle has flip up sights set at 25, 50, and 100 meters, and I can regularly hit a 4" plate at 100 yards from a standing off-hand position with the rifle (minute of meat).
2) It was cheap. I bought the rifle for around $45-49 about 13 years ago, "military new" in the cosmoline.
3) It's a gun that I like, but one that I don't worry about beating up in the back of the truck, or out on the trails.
4) The .22lr is cheap to shoot, and it's easy to throw a brick of 500 rounds in the vehicle. The rifle also isn't very loud, which helps when plinking at camps in somewhat more traveled areas.
5) In addition to being a great plinker, the .22lr is a great survival gun. With it I can take any variety of small game animals within 100 yards.
This gun isn't the prettiest, most expensive, or most capable gun in my closet. But, for the purposes of being thrown in the back of the truck for any given trip, it's hard to beat it!
