I have been loading lead only for many years & haven't bought jacketed bullets in a long time. Who is your go to company for jacketed bullets?

FYI, I'll be loading ball bullets, no hallow points or boat tails or anything like that.

Edit: I'm loading .40 & 9mm.

I tend to prefer the thicker plated bullets from Rocky Mountain Reloading (RMR) or Xtreme.

For true jacketed, I go with whatever I can get cheapest: Nosler (2nds usually), Sierra, Hornady, Zero, Precision Delta.

You didn't specify caliber, but for .223 I like the Hornady 55 FMJBT. They are "ball" and are boattails. That's how the M193 bullets are made.

I don't load jacket bullets anymore since going to Xtreme, and now RMR. When I was loading jacket bullets, I loades Precision Delta, or Zero.

For my hunting, and long range rifles I use Nosler (hunting), and SMK.

Montana Gold. Purchased from a local vendor. XTP's if I am looking for maximum performance.

Rifle
Target - Sierra, Berger, or Lapua
Other - Nosler B-Tips or V-Max

Pistol
FMJ - Zero or Montana Gold
JHP - Hornady XTP(s) or Gold Dots
Lead - Missouri Bullet Co.
Coated - SNS Casting

Xtreme or hornady for .223 55gr fmj's
Hornady xtp's for all handguns
Sierra, Nosler, hornady, or surplus pulled bullets for other rifle calibers

I like Precision Delta for jacketed pistol loads.

I shoot mostly lead also, but I use these in Glocks because of that dreadful poly barrel. :)

For the past few years, anything I could get and hopefully at a good price.

In times past, Mil Surplus bullets and Zero Bullets is what I have used most.
I'm not a fan of plated bullets but I have learned to like Hi-Tek-2 coated lead bullets. (from MBC)

I buy speer or hornady for rifles, and only hornady for handguns...well for handgun and rifle calibers. All bets are off for the contender as it eats sierra, speer, hornady.....

I used Montana Gold FMJ/JHP for match shooting. They are very consistent with less than 1 gr variance bullet to bullet. 165 gr JHP is my preferred bullet weight/profile for 40S&W match loads as nose profile is shaped for better feeding/chambering and seems to shoot just as accurate as FMJ without exposed lead base. I could never get 180 gr plated bullets (even with longer bearing surface than 165 gr) to shoot as accurate as jacketed bullets but I have been impressed by RMR's new thick plated 180 gr RNFP bullets using Herco and BE-86 powders. I order the Montana Gold bullets by the case to save money but would not hesitate to use RMR's TP bullets especially since it is priced lower.

Winchester 115 gr FMJ has been my reference load bullet for 9mm but Berry's 115/124 gr hollow base thick plated bullets have been shooting more accurate. I am thinking about trying the new Winchester 115 gr hollow base bullet with longer base when my current supply runs out. With that said, RMR's TP 115 gr RN is looking to be my designated plinking load bullet for carbine loads if initial range testing with Just Right carbine works out more accurate than Winchester 115 gr FMJ.

For duplicate defensive practice ammo, I use Remington Golden Saber JHP and Speer Gold Dot HP bullets.

Someone here turned me onto some Zero's and some MG's, and although I haven't had a chance to load them yet, both look like pretty good bullets. the one's I have are all HP's, but the FMJ's are supposed to be a good bullet. I think both companies offer both RN and FP, but I'm not certain, but you can take a look at their web site and see.

for just plain FMJ's (ball) I use 115gr rem or win in those 100 count bags for about $11 to $13 per 100 9mm, can't tell one from the other , but $13 is my limit , that and the primer will run about 16cents a round , then I start looking at bulk stuff ,

I forgot to include those that I have used for a very long time, and have assessed the performance of.

I'm not much of a ball type bullet loader, mostly because I develop loads for SD and hunting applications, so it would defeat my purpose to load FMJ (ball) I guess. But as for my favorite jacketed bullets, I'm drawn to Hornady XTP's, both the FP's and JHP's have served me very well.

And as for my absolute favorite SD bullet, it's hands down the Gold Dot. This bullet has proven to be 100% effective on mule deer from a .357 revolver also.

plus +1 on the Hornady , I load FMJ's for my UZI, the fun spray and pray stuff , that heavy bolt and spring need hot loads to run it , most factory and bulk stuff will fail to cock it , it will fire, and feed but if it's not good and hot it will not push the bolt back that extra 1/8 inch, I run a max charge of HS-6 with a mag primer , so plated stuff would be to hot and HP stuff would be to pricey $$$
