Grant45: I've heard the Savage 110 gets excellent out-of-the-box accuracy. Has that been your experience? I'm thinking about picking up a new bolt rifle and have been eyeballing a 110.
Another (probably stupid) question for anyone: How does the bipod attach to those bolt guns? Sling swivel?
for that "if it's tactical enough for deer at 300yds, it's tactical enough or people at 300yds" school of thought
Thanks! Accuracy is stellar. If I do my part, I can get 1.5" five shot groups at 100 yards all day with commercial match ammo, and I've done almost as well with M118LR. A better rifleman could probably get it to shoot MOA. FWIW, I had the trigger done by Bill Springfield, and that helped a lot. It now has no take-up, no creep and minimal overtravel, and breaks cleanly right at 5 pounds. It is certainly not a "military" trigger, anymore. Also, my PTR is an early one (note the plain muzzle with no flash hider) with the hammer-forged hexagonal rifling. I've heard rumours (unverified) that JLD switched to cut-rifled barrels at some point, though I don't know that for certain. I have no idea whether the new barrels are better, worse or the essentially the same in terms of accuracy.treebeard said:Father Knows Best, nice PTR-91 you got there. How is the accuracy with that scope? I am thinking about getting a PTR-91 myself.
