I would like another Taurus model 65. I have one already that is some years old. Has anyone bought one of the new ones lately? If so what do you think of it? So far my old six shooter had done well.

I don't own a new 65, but do own a newer direct cousin, the model 66 in stainless and a 7 shot at that.

The old 65 has the 2.5 inch barrel and one of the nicest, clean and crisp double action trigger pulls. This one is 25+ years old and still running strong.

I also own another 65 cousin, the 82 in .38 Special.

I find nothing wanting on any of them. I also own over 15 Taurus revolvers along with Ruger products and enjoy them all. From what I've seen and experienced the 65 is still a class item.

I can bring a full typed page of links from the new 65 owners if need be from "another forum" about the reliability and accuracy of the new 65, but you get the picture.

Same as you weregunner I own the model 66. Couldn't pass it up for $50 more it has adjustable sights and 7 shot other than that they are identical. Can't beat it.

Sorta wish my 3" was a 65, make a cleaner carry without the adjustables, but it carries well anyway. I have a 3' and a 4" 66, super accurate guns and of reasonable high qualtiy regardless of the detractors. They're working guns, the 3" a carry option and the 4" an outdoor/hiking, etc gun. Both were bought used, the 3" an 80s era gun and the 4" a early 90s era gun with the transfer bar trigger (vs earlier hammer block), but pre lock/pre MIM. The lock on a Taurus doesn't bother me, much better design than Smith's frame hole, and the MIM wouldn't bother me, either, don't think, though I don't own any guns using MIM parts. All my Smiths and Tauri are used. Bought one M85SSUL new in 1996, has the lock, but still pre-MIM. I am carrying it as I type this. It's also a fantastic shooter.

Buy face to face and put the gun through the check out procedure is my main advice.
