I have a very lightly used Yugo M70AB1 (fixed stock) AK clone imported/assembled by Century Arms that I purchased through AIMSuprlus.com back in January. Though it is a great rifle and I would highly recommend it to anyone, I just can't find even a remotely comfortable way to shoot it. Just plain awkward for me. I greatly prefer shooting my father's SKS, and I'm going to build an AR-15 carbine soon using a Del-Ton kit. ARs are just feel better to me. So it is time to let go of the M70.

I discussed my thoughts previously in this thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=372086

It's got about 100 rounds of Wolf 122 grain JHP ammo through it. So it isn't even broken in yet. It came with 2 Yugo 30-round magazines with the follower that locks the bolt open on the last shot. Mags fit firmly, but not too tight (no wobble). I did add a cleaning rod, as it did not come equipped with one. Note that it does not have the Tapco trigger group like some less expensive WASRs come with these days.

Anyone know of an approximate value? What would be a fair price for me to ask? I've heard of new ones them selling for $550 +/- $50 retail lately. I saw a used Century similar to mine on gunbroker selling for around $450.

Your input is appreciated.

Ohhhh, Never sell a gun. Yugo's are a little hard to find now. I was thinking about 475 to 500. I picked up one a few months ago for 450 but have recently seen them at a gun show for 550+. Also, it was kind of a used gun before you bought it as it came from a kit. The reciever and barrel are new but the rest has probably been used before you bought it (most of it anyway). Good luck.

Yeah, I mostly don't sell guns. I've got a S&W Model 14 that I haven't shot in more than a year. But I know deep down that I'd regret selling it, so it will stay. For example, the only gun I regret selling was an el-cheapo Heritage Rough Rider Combo. I really had no good reason for selling it (only got $75 for it), and so I regret it to this day. Plus the gun I replaced it with was a turd of a Taurus 94.

Every now and then though it makes sense for me personally to do so, and this is one of those times. In the past, I've sold a Taurus model 66, Taurus model 94 and a Springfield XD9. I never looked back with any of those, as I replaced each of them with a similar gun that made more sense for me (a S&W 686, a S&W K-22 and a Springer 1911 respectively). I'm in the same situation now. As I said, I much prefer the feel of an SKS or AR. And heck, I'd like to add a Finish M39 to my collection soon, before they dissappear, so something's gotta give ;).

Thank you again for the help :).

Don't sell that gun. You will regret it. That's one of the finest affordable AK that you can buy. You can always get $400 later but you can't always get a nice rifle like that because parts kits for Yugo's are gone.

Try shooting it by holding one hand on the magazine, instead of the the foregrip. That's the balance point of the rifle and, at least to me, with a little practice, can make it quite balanced and comfortable to hold.

I wouldn't sell it either. I have a M70AB2 that I don't even enjoy shooting much anymore, however, it's still my go to weapon. Two things you can bet your life on: That rifle, and it's value rising.

they will go for 600+ soon when they're extinct in the new Saiga-dominated AK world. Keep it.

Interesting thread. I've been tempted to sell or trade my Yugo Underfolder lately, as it's just been sitting in the safe. Problem is, I don't want to regret it later, if they are unavailable, or have a increase in price. As it is, I traded a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 for it, so I only have around $275 in it. This thread is helping me resist the temptation

I got one of the Yugos with the underfolding stock, 'cause i've always wanted one, and now i ain't digging it so much. I've had it close to a year, i think, and still haven't fired it !! I like my (non-wasr) Romy's and Saigas lots better. I wish i'd gotten the Yugo with the standard wood furniture, and would trade this UF for one in a heartbeat.

Sell it to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See link in sig line :) .

Try shooting it by holding one hand on the magazine, instead of the the foregrip. That's the balance point of the rifle and, at least to me, with a little practice, can make it quite balanced and comfortable to hold.

I did try doing that (among other variations). I guess for my build/body type, I have to be somewhat of a contourtionist. Whenever I'm done shooting, I feel like visiting my friendly chiropractor - I did once actually  . For me I guess, the fitment of the stocks is all wrong. Recently, I've handled several different configurations. I was most comfortable with non-converted Saigas. I guess because they feel somewhat similar to an SKS, which is quite doable for me. I had the same basic problems with other setups. Go figure.

Since I don't enjoy shooting it, I figure by selling it someone else will get to. I guess that makes me either charitable, or stupid. Probably a little bit of both :neener: .

ya can put different stocks on the M70B1 including if ya wish an ace side folder or an M4 collapsable the unique buttstock socket is very versatile also UTG is soon going to add a Yugo quad rail to their lineup and Ultimak already makes a gastube mount for them..... the original Yugo buttstock simply has to high of a comb to it for most shooters in fact because of this I prefer the undrfolder much more as its a perfect fit for my face structure etc... many people simply sand down the comb on the yugo stock to make it more like a longer version of a regular AK stock.... aftermarket custom wood is also available...

the current price for them is up to $579 from Classic who was not long ago when they were still available were selling em as low as $419 not a bad investment..... and will only go up in value as the parts kits they are built from are now running out...
