AIM has/had them for $79.95 delivered! I bought two more at that price because I like the gun and I like AIM so I figuired it would be fine. I got my first one of the two the other day and it is outstanding! It is in excellent cond+ with full load of extras and a log book.

For less than $80, is there a better deal on the market for a rifle than the Yugo SKS? I know I have a C&R so I can get it a little cheaper than non-C&R holders but even at the gunshows, I have seen them for just over $100 and often they cleaned the cosmo off for you at that price!

I am impressed with SKSs in general and the quality of the Yugo in particular. I never bought one until recently because I thought they were cheap commie junk and the only ones I had seen were some of the worst Chinese SKS that were imported.

The Chinese SKS is a fine gun but it looks and feels much cheaper than a Russian SKS or a Yugo SKS. I consider the Yugo SKS to be a full sized rifle and not really a carbine. It is sort of an inexpensive way to own a M1 Garand type of battle rifle without having to spend $1000.

I really dont condsider the Yugo a battle rifle, as it lacks the power, but its not quite a carbine either.

For me, my Yugo is simply a beater. Fiberglass stock, hacked barrel truck gun. I cannot buy a newer gun that will do what the Yugo will do for even twice the money. I am very, very satisfied with my purchase, and am tempted to order another to keep stock, or to hack in a different way, depending on my mood.

SKSs are popular due to the price. If it get damage or lost they are cheap to replace.
I have heard of begining gunsmiths buying these to practine on.

IMO, yes, the Yugo SKS is the best deal in rifles today. The only thing that can even come close to it are the Russian Mosin Nagants for $50-60, but here we are talking bolt-action battle rifle shooting a full size cartridge vs. uh, semi-auto intermediate cartridge battle rifle/carbine thingy.

Hey now, be nice to the Chicoms dammit. :D

I took mine out today and fed it a nice diet of 200 rounds of Wolf....it was hitting COM at 200yds.....and all but 4 or 5 of the 60 rounds I fired at that range were "on target" on the outline of a B27 sized target. :neener:

Oh yeah...the Yugos are probably the best deals out there right now for a reliable and minute of man accurate intermediate semiauto on the market right now, although I'm hearing rumors that they're going the way of the Dodo.

I have heard that AIM can no longer get them....if this is true then it stands to reason that most other importers are going to run out as well. I work part time at a local shop and we were able to get 5 last week but even then we were told that we may not be able to get any more......I'm no expert though, only going by what I've heard.

AIM hass more on the way, a bunch more, the way it sounds, just not sure when yet.

I got mine from Century, and they had plenty, last I checked.

There was a thread oven on the Survivor SKS boards where the owner/manager of AIM assured them they would get more in, but not of the timetable.

That's very good to hear. Alot of gun dealers out there should take lessons from AIM on customer service. When you go in there everybody is very curtious and they don't try to run any scams on you. I feel good everytime I spend money at AIM, and they get quite a bit because they are literally right outside of the entrance to my work.

I do not consider the AK a battle rifle, its an assualt rifle in the true sense of the word. Battle rifles fire full power rounds, often semi auto only. Assualt rifles concentrate on quantity, not quality of hits, such as the AK, the M16, etc.
