I'm currently hunting a new ak rifle. The underfolder polish model has my attention, however if anyone has any experience with the current Yugo batch or wasr underfolders I am all ears. The new barreled polish tantal has it's merits as well. So any input is greatly appreciated, and thanks.

P.S. For some reason I'm really drawn to the underfolders and tantal side folders....

I want a Tantal eventually, the lines of that gun and the cheap surplus ammo demand that I get one sometime down the road. I have a Yugo underfolder (Century, but a good one) and I like it a lot. The angle of the underfolder fits me better than other versions and I like that it is solid as a rock. Others who have tried mine dislike the underfolder because it interferes with muffs and seems to magnify recoil a bit for them. Try handling one before you buy, Yugos are heavier and just feel different from other AKs due to the heavier materials.

Oh, my Yugo is about 6 years old btw. Wasr has a bad reputation because qc is spotty but if you can check it over the better-built ones are good. Heck my friend has one with crooked sights and a cobbled magwell and it shoots very well.

century has got a 100% american made ak called the centurion39 sporter, i own 1 of them and it is a exelent ak for the money.
it has a fixed stock but i believe you could put a under folder on it.
it has a milled reciever , dont know if that matters to you or not but in my opinion its a great ak, i have a post on it here at thr called centurion39 ak
check it out if you want. i am trying to figure out how to post pics of it on here

I have a polish underfolder and love it.... nothing but good things to say... I got a good one not a centry one...

No.

Under folder stocks require a proprietary rear trunnion and holes in the receiver for the pivots.

In any case, underfolders are the worst possible stock for using the weapon to its potential due to exceptionally poor ergonomics and the objectionable amount of wobble that they usually exhibit as they wear.

I've shot a couple underfolders and yes you are correct, there won't be any cloverleafs at 100 yards. However this will be just a good time at the range. I believe you can install a solid stock on a tantal due to it's side-folding mechanism. Also I understand the tantal has been fixed from it's previous ills.

Classicarms has the all original Yugo UF including the barrel. Price is not cheap though.
