these look interesting, might pick up a set. i use a pair of the silent ear plugs, which work great, but id like to be able to double up on hearing protection so i might just end up getting a pair of muffs instead. you guys might wanna check out the silent ear plugs, supposedly they have the highest NRR rating of any plug on the market (NRR 32).

I think these would be perfect to keep by your home defense gun. They go on quickly with no clumsy power switches or volume controls (and many muffs have two sets of those things). Some people use AR-15 carbines for home protection. I wouldn't want to touch off a 5.56 in a hallway without some hearing protection. I know adrenalin will mask the sound to your brain but it doesn't protect your ears, the damage is still done.
