I have just received a few sample 9mm Zero 125gr FPJHP's, and is planning to load them in 357sig.
Before loading a new bullet for 357sig, I always run a few tests to make sure the bullet is loadable in 357sig.
Following are my test results and conclusions:
-Diameter: .3555" - Good
-Average Bullet length: .5298" - On the shorter side but no problem. Need to look into perhaps lowering my COL.
-Ogive not inside case mouth test - used a .861" length case with bullet seated to 1.135". Enough of the trunk of the bullet was sticking out so I can use longer cases and/or lower the COL if needed. Very good bullet profile.
-Plunk test - pass
-Setback test - cycled 2 bullets 4 times through my gun. One bullet went from 1.1355" to 1.1340" which is acceptable. The second bullet went from 1.1350" to 1.1325" which is also acceptable.
-Bathroom scale test: After the setback test I use the same bullets and performed the bathroom scale test. Both bullets were held at around 22lbs for about 5 seconds without any issue.
My conclusion is that I like the bullet profile for 357sig and it passed all my tests I normally perform. These bullets should load well in 357sig.
Now all I need to do is load up a few of them and see how they perform.
