Zero bullets in .357 Mag or .45AARP?

I picked up a fair number (by my standards) of Nosler 158 grain .357 JHPs quite a while ago at a reasonable price. Very happy with their accuracy but I've run out and the prices no longer seem at all reasonable.

I picked up a .45 1911 early this year and got some GT cast for it. I'm thinking of going all jacketed, though, as I'm fed up with M-dies and shaving lube or plastic coating when I don't get a bullet set perfectly straight on the first try.

I know Zero JHPs are pretty well-regarded for accuracy in 9 mm. Is the same true in .357 and .45?

Can't speak for the 45 but I've had good results with the 357 bullets in my pistols. I will keep buying them. They perform as well as all the other JHP's I've shot over the years.

I recently got into the Zero SJSP for 357/38. I've exclusively shot their 44 mag SJSP for years now, and love them. All I've loaded them for thus far is 38 special, so I cannot speak to 357 performance. With that said, in 38, all I've done thus far is chrono them, no testing for accuracy.

Either way, they're a solid product.

As for the shaving of cast bullets, sounds like you may not be giving the cases enough bell-mouth? I'm not familiar with M-dies, so I don't know what effect they have when loading cast bullets.

M-dies are supposed to be really good for cast bullets. I have a couple and haven't really played around with them that much. My reloading schedule is pretty limited and erratic, and the last time I was using plastic-coated bullets, I just remember thinking maybe it wasn't worth it to save a few bucks, rather than going all jacketed to make things simpler...

I have run the zero 158 jhp and jsp. Both are great. I picked up an over run of the nosler CC 185 gainers two years ago from RMR. Sorry no help on the zero 45s.

If using an Mdie and your getting shaving (lead or coated) you need to turn the die in a little bit more to increase the flair just a little bit. It doesn't look like much, but its just enough to remove that. The crimp die will close it up no issues. A standard plug style expander over expands the case mouth in alot of cases. There is a reason the Mdie has been copied to death...

As far as jacketed bullets for 45? I've had decent luck with 185s and 230s from Precision Delta.
