I thought the flick was pretty funny, Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I am hoping that this was just a joke by Hornaday for the big H coming up, If not looks like I will be getting a box.

A tad spendy but the neat factor is there. a 20 round box of .223 for $17 or 2 10 round boxes of buckshot for $20.

This was a great idea. Fun and collectable novelty ammunition that will still work like its less entertaining equivalents in the Hornady brand. A great gag gift that is also useful!

I'd like to have a box, that is just funny.

Maybe I'm just slow or something, but the zombie is already dead, right? So if he's already dead, how do you kill him, if he's already, like, dead? It's a conundrum.

Some sources say that putting enough lead into it will eventually re-kill (superkill?) it. Or at least render it too heavy to move.

More reputable (traditional) sources say that it, while the living functions are indeed dead, motion still relies on signals from the nervous system. So accuracy is key. Thus why Hornady is a good choice. Buff up on fast head shots.

Bonus: this works on pretty much everything else, too.

I dont think one would have time to be fumbling with speed loaders while being chased down by hundreds of zombies. I would prefer a Springfield XDM with plenty of extra mags, as far as pistols go. And a Mini 14 or a 20 gauge.

A reminder: this thread is about an ammunition line. Expect posts about zombies to vanish or this thread to be locked if it continues.

I want to get a couple boxes in honor of Modern Warfare 3 coming out :D They have always had the best zombie mode.

Seeing the Z-MAX ammo makes me wonder if the Max is for Max Brooks, writer of the Zombie survival guide and World War Z.

I see the black shotshell hulls with the Z-max name on them. What are the distinguishing factors of the brass cased ammo, other than the nifty box?

I actually read the disclaimer on the video at the end... why would they put that? What would happen if I used Z-max for Deer? Or Z-max for self defence? If I shoot a non-zombie with zombie ammo, what can I expect?

In all honesty I am sad that this came out after I had taken my MBA marketing class as it would make a neat case study. In all honesty I will most likely get a box for fun. Other than that I do not see any reason to buy it. I am sure it will spur some sales for gifts and gags.

I know most people on this forum reload, but for those that don't it's a great idea. If I was going to buy some good quality factory ammo anyway, and I was flipping my coin between Hornady, Federal, Remington or Winchester, a gimmick like this is all I need to sway my decision. That, plus the people buying it for the novelty, will result in pretty good sales for Hornady.

if a shovel to the head would kill a zombie i doubt i need a special round.

though im sure alot of people will get it for the novelty. I sure wouldnt mind a box a two
Interesting comment when you consider you can kill a human with a shovel blow to the head, yet everyone clamors for the next best anti-personnel, specialized bullet.

I wonder if they'll start making cartridges with wooden-tipped bullets for vampires or silver-tipped ones for werewolves.

ETA: Woops... others beat me to it. Figures... too obvious. :D

It's curious to me all of this talk of "zombie attack" in the past year or so. Did you know that a person who is infected with Ebola oftentimes has the appearance of a zombie?

As I was driving on I-95 through Georgia, I saw three 2.5 ton Army trucks and 2 HMMWV trucks, one deuce-n-a-half had 'safety yellow' equipment stacked up inside the cargo compartment. Who would have thought that military equipment came in such colors these days? But I do know that First Responder/NBC type equipment are typically those colors.

Be careful what memes you allow in your mind, even 'funny' ones like zombies.

I'll be buying a box. It's just something to have fun with. I'll just stick it aside as a conversation piece - not to actually every shoot.

Realistically, the market for decorative-type items is huge. People collect memorabilia of all sorts - literally just something to display and look at. Having a box of zombie ammo from a major manufacturer is a great something to add to a collection of zombie-related memorabilia.

Its wise marketing. It's a run of a normally consumable product that will not likely be consumed - putting it in a completely different buying schedule compared to most of their products.

I do agree with the self-defense thing though: normally I'm not one to care about the "DA is gonna have a field day with this . . ." type comments - I carry reloads and don't mind carrying a modified gun. HOWEVER, if you ever actually used this "zombie ammo" in a real self-defense scenario there's a good bet a case would be made against you that you were living in a fantasy world and reanacting fantasy scenarios.

Be smart - keep this stuff for the novelty item that it is, or if you really want to, just shoot it at the range (not sure why you'd do that do - regular blasting ammo is a LOT cheaper).

If they actually do ship it and it's not just a prank, you'd be nuts to shoot it. Unless you needed to defend against zombies of course.

Some posts are missing, some of them very funny, but strayed a bit too far from the topic unfortunately. This is a zombie ammo thread.

We will be leaving the peanut picture for now because let's be honest, that's just hilarious :)

9mm, .45, .223 and 12ga for me. I can't say I'll stock up on the stuff but a box of each just for the fun of it sounds good to me.

Brilliant sales boosting idea.

The rifle bullets looks to me like V-Max (aka Z-Max?) And the handgun ones look exactly like critical defense, minus the color of the polymer/rubber in the tips.

Briallant minds think alike, so they say. I bought some halloween glo in the dark green nail polish to try out on my front sights on my snubbie and had some silvertip reloads laying around so for grins i set here and painted them, I did this several weeks ago before learning of the Z-Max, I guess you could say I am making my own Zombie ammo LOL.

Looks lihe shipping on the shotgun shells has been moved back to December.

They are going to sell a LOT more of this than they thought.
