Zombies!!

OK. I've been laughing hysterically at the Mall Ninga thread for a couple of days now.
Since I'm obviously not up to speed and socially adjusted, where did the Zombie thing start? I did a quick search for "Zombies" and had 703 hits.
Was there a particular movie or thread that started the Zombie SHTF scenarios?
I'm looking forward to pushing some more perfectly good beer through my sinus cavities.

zombies man, they freak me out

Seriously, I prefer the older zombie movies. Even though the origional Dawn of the Dead they all looked liek their faces were spray painted blue, anyone else notice that? Either way slower zombies make better targets.

I suppose the newer breeds though have the fun that they move faster and are therefor more challenging targets. Even though the outside of the mall the gun shop dude was picking them off pretty nice.

hey corria if we in turn offer a crash course in surviving the attack of the killer tomatos do we get a discount on that zombie package? How about undead monkies? Or is that covered in the zombie class?

I see zombies, they're every where. And the worst thing is they don't even know they're zombies.

Like at the democratic national convention, and our govenor is a zombie too. Heck most of the east coast and California are zombiefied.

They try to turn us into zombies too, and when they fail, they try for the next generation by infiltrating our education system. Nothing is safe or sacred to the zombie hoards. They may be coming for me now, I think my mom is one of them and she told them where I am.....

For decades I felt good about my ability to defeat zombies with guns and even sledgehammers. Then they came out with those fast SOBs.

did you see the new dawn of the dead where the dead little zombie girl early on does the kung fu flip back on the feet thing? That is not how zombies are supposed to work man. These news SOB's are super zombies.

Then you got Land of the Dead where they start thinking. You'd think that by that point theyed be a little on the rotted side heh

Hey guys whats up? First time post here, but i though that i would chime in on this zombie post.

Yea i loved the old Dawn of the Dead, slow zombies are very easy to kill since they don't move fast or sporadically. But these new zombies are crazy, doing back flips, busting through doors, chasing after cars, etc. Btw - funny quote Lupinus, i actually just watched Land of the Dead for like the 5th time a few days ago on HBO. If a zombie attack would ever happen though, I think it would be more like in Shaun of the Dead where the government and regular people kill all of the zombies within a couple of days since they are slow and stupid. Anyways, thats just my .02.

BTW - If you guys are ever bored, you should check out the Land of the Dead video game. I played it at a friends house a few weeks ago and about ever 10 seconds i would nearly s*** myself when zombies popped out of nowhere, (sorry if that was completely off-topic).

I've not seen Land of the Dead. Is it out on DVD? If they're reasoning *and* fast, we're screwed.

Land of the dead wasn't horrible, it just wasnt great.

It is made by Romero and is the fourth of the Living Dead series. They aren't extremely fast, Romero keeps them more or less shuffeling as we are used to. They seem a little faster, but not nearly as fast as Dawn of the dead remake.

Remember in Day of the Dead they had the one zombie soldier dude who starts shwoing signs of basic memory and reasoning? Shoots the soldier and salutes and what not?

Land takes that a step further, gas station guy messing with pumps, etc. But as I said a step further and they start to have some reasoning, such as distractions stop working and the zombies actually lead a revolt and attack on a city. Thats about the basic idea, humans are hold up in the last few remaining cities they raid the now overrun towns for supplies and the zombies start reasoning.

EDIT: and yeah, it is on dvd. Should be in most video stores though it might be a little late now for it to be in the new release section. If you do the netflix thing I know for a fact they have it.

Dawn of the Dead was beautiful, but Land of the Dead sucks. Seriously. It has no logic, and is terribly annoying.

If you want to see good modern zombies, refer to 28 Days Later. Those guys are FAST.

Yeah, "Bub" from Day of the Dead. As I recall, he put a slug in the BG's leg with a Govt Model! I kinda liked Bub.

I'll have to check the new one out - I'm a Romero fan.

yeah bub, his name escaped me its been awhile since I saw dotd lol. Like I said, it basically expands on the idea of them being able to have memories and reason and what not.

Not great, not horrible, middle of the road kinda thing worth watching once or twice but probably not worth buying
