Another option for you would be a build. You can come out spending less money for a better rifle. I just finished one in .338fed coming in under $1300 total for a rifle that would be well over $2000 if you could find a company using the same quality parts. Your uppers and lowers are pretty much the same anywhere (to an extent of course). Where you want to NOT skimp is barrel, bolt carrier group, and trigger quality. I would also suggest an adjustable gas block for tuning. That way if and when you DO start reloading for your rifle, you will be able to load up some hotter rounds without over gassing. Aero Precision has great quality parts and pretty sporty prices as well. Too many quality barrel makers out there for me to list that are making top notch barrels for AR's. It's pretty much how accurate you want and how much you're willing to spend. Personally, I wouldn't waste money on a .30 cal or larger AR 10 platform with a barrel less than 20 inches. If you are going to reduce your capabilities of accuracy and speed by having a 16 inch barrel, you may as well go with some of the AR 15 offerings such as the 6.8 SPC , 6.5 Grendel, .458 SOCOM , and last but certainly not least, .50 Beowulf!
