Got anything you REALLY wish the beancounters would let manufacturers build?
Smith and Ruger should make a 9mm carbine using the M&P and American magazines respectively.
Contender will fit that bill for now.Yeppers,,,
A break-open action, single-shot .22 target pistol.

Nothing fancy,,,
Plain Jane would be fine,,,
Something reminiscent of the older Stevens handguns.
Cheap enough so I could buy two and case them like dueling pistols.

That sounds awesome. In any handgun caliber really.A compact, economical bolt-action carbine chambered in 9mm. Bonus points if it can be had using magazines matching your pistol of choice.
A Ruger revolving carbine based on the new 8 shot Redhawk frame- how cool would that be?

There was the Spanish Gendarmerie Destroyer carbine like this, but it took 9mm Largo, and I think the mags were specific to that gun. Would be a cool idea for them to resurrect!A compact, economical bolt-action carbine chambered in 9mm. Bonus points if it can be had using magazines matching your pistol of choice.
Well, they could do the little wing shields like the Taurus Circuit Judge- these seemed to provide the shooter adequate blast protection. Alternatively, a manufacturer could do like the Nagant revolvers and have the cylinder recess forward into the barrel extension, though, granted it would add complexity and cost- didn't keep the Ruskies from making gazillions of those pistols, though......Umm.. no thank you. No desire to put any part of my body up close to the cylinder gap, especially not with full tilt Ruger level loads. Maybe watch someone else wearing mediaeval armor shooting it?
Heck ya, good idea! The .22 top break auto ejectors were a hoot! And they are getting scarce enough now, that new production wouldn't have to compete with the old Iver Johnsons and such. How cool would it be if S&W actually did some up to, say .38 SPL. size! Uhhhh, no lock though please.....top breaks again... I'm okay with diminutive calibers, but Schofield seemed to be able to do it with close to .45 colt... I'd be a pretty niche market though... and cheapskate to boot!
Or......how bout Glock finally lets hell freeze over and puts out a carbine of their own! LolRuger needs to bring back the PC9 and PC4 carbines with mag wells that accept Glock magazines. I bet they'd sell like hotcakes.
I was thinking of just that. My picture is of something along the lines of a Marlin or Mossberg bolt plinker, just scaled up appropriately, but still light and compact (<5lbs), and less than three hundred bucks. If they do that, they'd make a mint, especially here in the East where the ranges are shorter but we still need a good varmint piece in a caliber that matches their pistol. There was the Spanish Gendarmerie Destroyer carbine like this, but it took 9mm Largo, and I think the mags were specific to that gun.
