I have a military profile Mauser 98k receiver [with the stripper clip guide and hump] that was drilled/tapped before i bought it. When I bought it, it had a 2-piece scope mount on it, but the rear mount was unstable since it only had 1 screw.
I bought an EGW 1-piece picatinny scope mount, partly because it was machined with the curve of the Mauser receiver on the underside. I measured the distances between the holes with a digital caliper, but it appears my measurements were off by about a millimeter.
The front two holes align perfectly with the holes on the receiver, but the back hole is about 1 mm off.
It appears to me that I will have to buy an undrilled EGW mount, and take the rifle and mount to a smith for drilling.
Anyone have any other ideas ?
