As many of you know, YouTube de-monetized over 100 of my videos on the Duelist1954 channel last week.

Naturally, I requested a manual review of each one. So far, they have reviewed 63 of the videos in question.

For 21 videos, the manual reviewers reversed the original decision, so those videos are now deemed suitable for advertisers.

But for 42 videos, the reviewers upheld the original decision to de-monetize them because they violate YouTube’s weapons related content policy.

I guess I could swallow that if there was any consistency in how YouTube applies its policy. For instance, YouTube prohibits:

“Pages that provide instructions about the assembly, enhancement or acquisition of any firearms including parts or components thereof. This includes, but is not limited to firearm-making instructions, guides, software or equipment for 3D printing of guns or gun parts”

OK…I guess that is their rationale for de-monetizing my flintlock rifle build videos. But there is no consistency in their decisions.

For example, on my Swivel Breech rifle build series, the reviewers decided update 19 was fine, but updates 2, 3, 17, 18, 20, 22, and the series introduction, all violate their guidelines.

On my current York County rifle build, updates 2 and 7 are just fine, but updates 9,12 and 23 violate their standards…how? If building guns is bad, why aren’t all the videos in the series bad?

YouTube doesn’t allow you to contact them to question decisions, which is a shame, because most of the decisions don’t seem to follow any actual standard. It seems like a whim on the part of each individual reviewer.

Mr.Duelist...there is no understanding their policies and procedures. They'll say one thing yet do another or do one thing and say another. They know they have a monopoly on their platform and they know they have channels at their mercy. Of course they make it so you cant contact them question them directly...they dont care about yours or anyone elses opinions and its their way of telling you that. It is horrible how theyre treating channels...especially ones such as yours that is a well liked and respected channel in our community. I think what needa to be done is youtube needs a competitor to give it a run for its money...one that will treat its channels fairly and communicate with them when there is an issue...but theyve gotten so big (especially being backed by google) that it may never happen. Just know you have people here who will always hear you out and offer help if they can.

OK…I guess that is their rationale for de-monetizing my flintlock rifle build videos.

Just insanity. Like people intent on doing harm are going to build a flintlock and try to commit crimes with it. That kind of stupidity boggles the mind.

Love your videos friend.
You're a big part of the reason I want to get into cap and ball revolvers.
Please keep it up, as frustrating as this is.

Yeah it's ridiculous. Matt from Demolition Ranch made a video saying the same stuff; his videos were taken down and strikes given but they weren't applying the rules consistently so he didn't know what he could and couldn't do.

I enjoy your videos, and it's cool seeing you on THR.
Keep up the good work; I get a lot of education and entertainment from your channel!

. . . YouTube doesn’t allow you to contact them to question decisions, which is a shame. . .
As per always, Googles behaviour makes much more sense if you remind yourself that you are not their customer. . . you are their product.

When you start writing them checks, they'll be much more interested in what you think. As it stands, you're the chicken complaining that you don't like the coop; they couldn't care less so long as you keep laying.

Mike,

You have a very large and loyal following. I hope there's another venue, that you can publish your videos on. We'll all gladly go wherever you are. Youtube has grown far too big for it's liberal britches. Just know, you're not alone.

I am one of those that will go also !!! You have been very instrumental in helping me along the way and I am sure there are others as well.

It's a libatard entity run by libatard sponsors. They won't allow your stuff but those trying to con people, like getting free energy using magnets, get a pass.

I wonder to what degree the advertisers themselves are affecting which content can get monetized instead of thinking that it's all Youtube.
We all know that Youtube can be arbitrary, but I'm also reading that advertisers themselves are able to choose their "targeted audience".
They're always going to come up with reasons to not monetize gun related videos just like it's pretty hard to move a mountain.
There should be a gun friendly video platform whose advertisers actually welcome us!
Then more of us might actually watch some of their ads.

I found this below about how advertisers can choose their audience and ideas about funding youtube channels without adsense.

"It depends on your niche

Because you get paid only when ads show on your videos and viewers watch them, it means you need ads on your videos (duh).
How many ads will be showing up, depends on the niche you're in.
A business selling phones won't pay for ads to be shown on your videos about animal food because your audience isn't relevant to the business.
Hence, if you're in a niche where businesses are not paying for advertisements, you won't have much success with it." --->>> https://www.drsoft.com/2018/05/04/earn-money-from-youtube-without-adsense/

Hi Mike. Like the others I really enjoy your videos. I think several who have been completely booted off have moved their videos over to gunstreamer. https://gunstreamer.com/ You might consider that as an alternative. I don't know if they pay or not but at least they are Pro-Gun. If you go there we will follow.

And its good to see you post here again.

Mike, your videos are instructional and informative. Your content and subject matter are stellar. I feel that there must be third party anti gun trolls complaining about videos for the sport. It's the only explanation for the other trash that remains on YouTube.

Mike ,,, and on another note, you are responsible for me buying 2 more black powder guns that I didn't need, But I WANTED them, after wathing your videos...the Remington Pocket model and the Wells Fargo...

Thank you..

The inconsistency is really weird!
I wonder if they had different people reviewing your videos and some were just antigun and some were not.
If their rule says "firearm" and you are showing flintlock and cap & ball weapons, I think you have a point on which to request a reexamination of the videos still being blackballed on the premise that some of the people judging them did not understand that they were not of firearms.
Of course if the YouTube offices are located in a state like Illinois which says they are firearms then you are stuck!!!
Love your work so I hope this gets straightened out.

Good afternoon,
This sucks to a high degree but not because of the supposed Republican\Liberal tie ins usually associated when Big Business ( like You Tube ) attempts to flagellate one of it's most successful Users. It's all about the money, folks. Big Business may wear a Flag pin on it's collective Lapel when lobbying but make no mistake, 'they' already have collected the check and cashed it and could give two flying 'you know whats' about the Creators actually creating the content. Don't be Sheeple. Follow the money and when you have, do your best to clean yourself up and go find one of the start ups out there who are still small enough not to be Bought and actually still care about who signs up with them.
regards all and Good Luck, Mike. I'm a Fan who has learned a great deal from you and your hard work...

Many thanks to Mike and all respect for his great work. He is an invaluable resource and deserves our complete support.

I think those are corporate video channels.
Their videos serve as advertising.
At the end of the 1st video, Jerry Miculek rides a bicycle with a Bikeflow logo on it.

JeffG I have seen that bottom video before and its cool. And just goes to show how stupid some people can be. They leave that up but penalize Duelist for his simple, down to earth unhurried shooting of a BP gun?

I think what the problem is they have figured out that they can take the money away from a poster and still show pop up ads and not have to pay for the content everyone is watching. I have ad blocker but still see the stupid moronic video's that play at the beginning of some vidoes. When it says you can skip ad in 5 seconds thats what I do. And on the ones I can't I just mute the sound. I also mute the sound on the 5 second crap. So the ads YT puts up get ignored by me. And those movies and documenteries that have ads every 15 minutes or so, I just don't watch them. I am so damn tired of being shopped everywhere I go.:thumbdown::thumbdown:

It's a fool looks for logic in the confines of the human heart... er, YouTube. Mike, of all the gun videos on YouTube yours are the last that should be demonetized. But whaddayagonnado? They demonetized nearly all of mine also and I didn't even bother asking for review because even they don't know what standards they're basing decisions on. It's insanity.

Looking forward to the next installment of the York county rifle or whatever you're building now.

Demonitizing videos, and at the same time charging advertizers based on the number of views IS FRAUD!

I don't know if YT "demonitization" also means that no advertizer was charged for running during video. Imagine the squeal heard if YT had to pay back 15 years of fraudulently gathered revenue.
